How to argue with a Creationist

How to argue with a Creationist

    Well, you can’t.

You can’t actually argue with someone who endorses so-called “Creation Science,” because such a person does not, or will not debate about scientific facts.

With the advent of “non-reality-based” beliefs, which first received official imprimatur in the George W. Bush Administration, it’s become acceptable for reactionaries to take refuge in their “own” data, and abandon the common ground of understanding.
Do unto other nations what you would want other nations to do unto us.

It has been my experience that if you are to undertake the foolhardy journey of arguing with creationists, you want to make very sure you have a good supply and variety of popsicles close at hand. It is difficult to explain why, but they make all the difference.

What made me into an agnostic was bible stories.

For instance, the Tower of Babel. Here man was working together, one language (universal understanding), not fighting, building (and construction knowledge that anything ancient man could build is not that high and would be impossible to reach heaven). But yet god doesn't like that and made different language, scattered the people, etc. Whassup wit dat?

Cain and Able. God don't like veggies with his meat? A balanced diet? Dissing agriculture that made civilization possible.

Lot. Giving your two virgin daughters to a mob for gang rape is righteous. The mob was more rightous for turning him down. The motherfucker should went out with his sword and whooped ass.

    Etc, etc, etc

And then I noticed how the preacher would skip over the things I questioned.

Then you have singers making songs like Concrete Angel and you hope that the girl who had a shitty life here will get some karma and go to a better place instead of being worm food.

an a priori attitude helps (see link in my sig). just accept what theyre saying and keep asking questions until they, inevitably, abandon proper philosophical reasoning. then you can objectively state theyre just believing it because they wanna.
unless they not seem to even be registering someone is trying is trying to talk about it with them. then: ya cant go wrong with popsicles!

You're incapable of realizing the foolishness of your own morals. Congratulations, internet Crusader.

Science isn't about morals, moron. It's about testing for evidence over and over and over again.

Science was my favorite subject in school - particularly the Old Testament.

Modern science is a moral enterprise, aimed at improving the human condition by relieving suffering, enhancing health, and enriching life. Many scientists chose their occupation in large part because they saw a way to help others. Science is not morally neutral.

That has nothing to do with morals. Thanks for playing, now go play in traffic.

The process of science itself is amoral.

Humans are not amoral and since scientists are human, neither is science.

SO, since humans are not amoral, and mathmaticians are human (although some may debate that fact), does that make math a religion too?

That's not an accurate statement at all. There are many different...degrees for lack of a better term of creationists.

Science requires a dogma/ritual called the scientific method. It also requires ethical/moral behavior and a desire to help mankind. Other than the absence of a deity, what's the difference?

I don't know about all of science but certainly Evolution is a religion. What is Religion but a belief system as is Evolution.

Scientists/scholars are the deities. Hawking = Apollo.
