CIA Memo Reveals Admiral Controlled bin Laden Mission

Typical. Baraka provides buffers so he, like usual, wouldn't get blamed if the mission went south..
    He's so pathetic.

What 'Gutsy Call'?: CIA Memo Reveals Admiral Controlled bin Laden Mission

Received phone call from Tom Donilon who stated that the President made a decision with regard to AC1 [Abbottabad Compound 1]. The decision is to proceed with the assault.

The timing, operational decision making and control are in Admiral McRaven’s hands. The approval is provided on the risk profile presented to the President. Any additional risks are to be brought back to the President for his consideration. The direction is to go in and get bin Laden and if he is not there, to get out. Those instructions were conveyed to Admiral McRaven at approximately 10:45 am.

This, of course, was the famed “gutsy call.” Here’s what Tom Hanks narrated in Obama’s campaign film, “The Road We’ve Traveled”:

HANKS: Intelligence reports locating Osama Bin Laden were promising, but inconclusive, and there was internal debate as to what the President should do.

VICE PRESIDENT BIDEN: We sat down in the Situation Room, the entire national security apparatus was in that room, and the President turns to every principal in the room, every secretary, “What do you recommend I do?” And they say, “Well, forty-nine percent chance he’s there, fifty-one … it’s a close call, Mr. President.” As he walked out the room, it dawned on me, he’s all alone. This is his decision. If he was wrong, his Presidency was done. Over.

Only the memo doesn’t show a gutsy call. It doesn’t show a president willing to take the blame for a mission gone wrong. It shows a CYA maneuver by the White House.

The memo puts all control in the hands of Admiral McRaven – the “timing, operational decision making and control” are all up to McRaven. So the notion that Obama and his team were walking through every stage of the operation is incorrect. The hero here was McRaven, not Obama. And had the mission gone wrong, McRaven surely would have been thrown under the bus.

Not surprising, but I will give Obama this. While he obviously tried to take as much credit for it as he could at the time, he hasn't (so far) been running on it like John Kerry did (I heard he went to Viet Nam).
    The ambassador died, Obama lied.

That doesn't say that it wasn't Obama's call.
"All that stuff I was taught about evolution, embryology, Big Bang theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of hell [the bible] teaches us how to run all our public policy and everything in society." Rep. Paul Broun (R)

"I hope I live to see the day when, as in the early days of our country, we won't have any public schools. The churches will have taken them over again and Christians will be running them. What a happy day that will be!" -- Jerry Falwell

You mean to say Obama wasn't making his own adjustments to the plan, talking to the special forces himself, and telling the military command (on autographed videotape) that he was gonna take it in the shorts for all those brave dudes if anything went wrong? Watta wimp.

Here's something else to compliment Obama on: that he, a politician, stayed out of the military planning and execution, once it was determined that the ObL operation was a definite go. Something that few politicians -left or right- are in the habit of doing in the last few decades.

Is anyone troubled that Hussaine refuses to release any photos of Mr. Been Ladden? Also, a freemasonic judge denied some citizens' lawsuit to free the information. The transparent government Hussaine promised seems kind of dark!

Haha. Thats good spin. Obama took the approach as to lay the blame, as he always does, on others if the mission went bad.

Just when you try to give the guy credit for something, he goes and messes it up.

I don't see how this is news. The president leaves the operational decisions for a military mission with a high ranking military man? Shocking!

No, because I don't like to look at pictures of dead ugly animals.

Well, Saddam never promised a "transparent gov't", he was a dictator after all.
