I don't have to defend her. You don't like what she writes, that's fine and dandy. She does, however, provoke thought if someone is willing to consider the broader implications of what she is saying. In this particular case, the harder authorities try to proclaim certain areas "gun-free", and the harder they try to remove guns from the public sphere, the easier time criminals have. You don't like her way of skewering democrats and liberals (but I repeat myself), but what she brings up is worthy of thought. Michael Moore says some really stupid stuff, like how wonderful healthcare is in Cuba, but it's worth thinking about and discussing the various pros and cons of full-blown government run healthcare vs. slightly less government run healthcare.

Now, does that satisfy your need for further discussion on Ann Coulter? It will be interesting to see if the nutty American left wing can restrain themselves from attacking her looks again since she's been brought to the front again.

Hadit - I'm not sure how you get such a vague and general point from her text. Honestly. I mean that's the generic argument for gun ownership. Coulter makes some very specific points in her text that are absurd... and you mange to somehow float above them, only extracting what serves your purpose?

Surely you can imagine that doesn't seem very honest from my perspective?

How would you judge me if I were to float above everything the NBP say, and try to sell to you that they're just making the general point that blacks suffer from racism, when in fact they're calling for Zimmerman's capture, dead or alive?

Stop clowning around and either recognize the absurdity of what she wrote or embrace it for crying out loud. Or are you so partisan you can't bring yourself to say a bad word about her?

If Ann Coulter was writing on a discussion board, she would be a troll. She deliberately sets out to provoke, poke fun at, and enrage democrats and liberals. What more do you want?

Now, as to your comparison. I consider it apt, but would you consider it so if I were to present it to you? The NBP is an organization. They have members who actually do threaten other people with physical harm. Ann Coulter is not, and does not, represent a coherent group of people who are willing to cause harm. IOW, she could call for Harry Reid's cat to be killed in her column and I do not believe his cat would be killed (if he has one). Can you say with assurance the same thing about the NBP?

May I ask, what is it that you need a gun for? And no, I have no problem with your gun ownership, I'm just curious.

I live on a working property with 50,000 head of stock, there are occasions where for animal welfare it is necessary to put animals out of their misery, there are also occasions where animals like wild dogs attack our sheep and I hunt on those occasions, I'm not a recreational hunter myself. I generally only have need for my Bruno .22 though I have been in locations in other parts of the country where larger firearms are required for protection against larger animals, such as crocodile and buffalo

I don't own a gun but then I live in a town, small though it may be. If I lived on a ranch or more in the country I would certainly have different firearms for different purposes. One that I would want would be a pistol with shot. Though our snake situation is far from yours, we have an abundance of rattlers, in the area that I live in prairie, timber and western diamondback are but 3 of several. A pistol with a bullet isn't good against a snake, shot is.

Tyranny is what the government of Texas practices on a daily basis. Tyranny is what Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia practiced against blacks. When the federal government stepped in against the southern states to insure rights, it was to thwart tyranny and to instill order, legal, justly. When someone points out the tyranny practiced in Texas and then being called a "filthy leftist" it only shows the shallowness, the lack of respect for justice and order of that name calling individual.

I have a healthy respect for snakes. If I see them and can pass them by I do, but if I were to be in a situation where they were closer than I was comfortable with then give me a pistol with shot in it. I don't want to be a shovel's length away from them.
