The first season's only just been released here on DVD, so I've only just finished watching it. It was pretty good all in all, though apparently the books get less and less interesting so they'll have to cope with that somehow. RIP Sean Bean's character.

Not sure I agree with that. Books 2-3 are better than the first -- more action, and definitely more interesting. Book 4 is probably the weakest of the lot due to some narrative choices made by the author, but 5 is a return to form.though apparently the books get less and less interesting
