How many people would you like them to fire?

Here's another instance of falsified reporting from Fox.
And I don't think anyone got fired over it.
If you want to read about a time Fox did fire some reporters, google "monsanto cow milk fox"

They all suck. I'm surprised there isn't a black hole forming with Bill O'Reilley cresting the event horizon.

Of course it does, but it is plausible that only one guy handled the audio recording. As I said earlier, I can't picture the editors being aware of this - it was certain to explode into a scandal, with the entire country paying attention to this case - and NBC actually doesn't have a track record of these sorts of falsifications, AFAIK. The fact they even fired the guy suggests they take this sort of thing as a more serious problem than Fox News apparently does, since they don't fire folks for routine hijinks of this sort. All of this tends towards the conclusion that management didn't know.

I'd agree with management needing to be held responsible in most cases, but here, it isn't really reasonable to expect an editor to have to compare audio samples being published with the original, word for word. It should go without saying that the audio engineer's job is not to editorialize such things, and I can forgive an editor for not necessarily catching it when one suddenly decides to do so.

When did this air? I watch MSNBC and from the first time I heard about the story, I heard the unedited recording. I never heard anything but the unedited recording or a reading of the transcript. Never once.
