    Yes, Of course you were.

Then you should pay closer attention and actually read what I write rather than make foolish assumptions.

Something is dreadfully wrong with the tax system when half of the people are paying no income tax. If you cannot see the pitfalls of such a structure then I suggest you stop posting and do some more research. The good news is that you did learn at least one thing today; Don't make foolish assumptions!
    I didn't make any assumptions:

To you, that does not indicate that a certain portion of taxpayers is being hard done by?
I guess it would explain things if you don't understand what 'hard done by' means...

So lets break it down into bite sized chunks.

Are you or are you not saying that those who pay the most taxes are not getting a fair deal, because they get the least back in benefits?
And if you are NOT saying this, WHAT EXACTLY ARE YOU SAYING?

And once we've gotten past this bizarre stumbling block, maybe you can finally tell me who, in your view, is this group that is paying the most taxes and getting the least back in benefits. I've asked you once before but maybe you were missed it.

Those who are paying the most should be getting the most back, but that's not the case. The middle class shoulders most of the federal tax burden as a percentage of income, but it's the affluent who get the most back from our economic system. They've enjoyed the fruits of the system that everyone supports through their participation and that has allowed them to gain affluence, yet there are those among them who balk at the thought of supporting it enthusiastically even though it's in their best interests that our economic system be well-maintained.

And the Republican Party champions their cause.

Why in the world would anyone in the middle class advocate falling on his sword by cutting his own paid-for Social Security and Medicare benefits in order to keep taxes low on those who have already benefited so much from everyone's efforts? Wealth in this country is concentrating at the top at an increasing rate and it's coming out of the pockets of the middle class.

That may be fine for folks like me, but looking down the road it doesn't look fine for the future of our country.

Remember the axiom of big government bureaucrats: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. When, finally, under the crushing weight of taxes and regulation, it stops moving, subsidize it. Going Postal
