One of the perks of being a conservative old man is loving your wife enough to have intercourse without any drugs long life to true gentlemen

They're the ones on the front lines and see everything that's going on. Of course they vote Democrat. They don't live in cocoons like conservatives.

Look Pho: There's a specific event that was engaged in by a specific group and marketed toward a specific demographic. The result of that event is what we're talking about. It only applies to conservatives because it was only marketed at conservatives. The effect of that highly aggressive campaign is what the GOP is now struggling with: It pushed it's own market into the most insane and irrational thinking we've seen in this country in 2 generations. They seem to have stepped it down quite a bit, but the effects are still there, and this particular phenomena doesn't apply to liberals. That's some other phenomena.

The break from reality that conservatives took around 2003 was pointed and evident, and hasn't completely come to a close yet, and that's what this thread is about. If you're one of the victims of this effort, then you won't ahve any idea what I'm talking about. For example, you're buddy PB will think this is all bullshit and no such event ever took place. If you're not one of the victims of this event, then you most likely know exactly what we're talking about. If you're the former, then fuck off, I'm not interested in discussing this with a tard fucker who has no idea what's going on in the world. If you're the latter, then why in God's name are you -- fully aware that this phenomena applies specifically to conservatives -- in a thread about it asking why, in a thread about this phenomena, we're not talking about some other phenomena, too.

    So which is it?

Now, that's my take on it. I don't think conservatives are a great deal dumber than liberals -- slightly, yes, but not a great deal. But this was an explosion of stupid that took place in the conservative circles. It was a volcano of stupid -- Mount Crazyasfuck erupted -- right inside the GOP during the Bush Years. I think it was the result of a very aggressive and coordinated propaganda effort, run by the party, making use of existing resources such as Fox, Rush, NRO, etc. Some people in this thread probably disagree with me, and think that the conservatives are just naturally that stupid and crazy. Waht do you think? Do you think I'm right? Do you think they are?

If not, what's your point in a thread about this specific phenomena? I mean, aside from throwing stones.

What I find interesting, Boo, is your apparent belief that there are two types of conservatives- the ones that agree with you, and the "tard fuckers". While I lament the descent into areas of misbehavior that were previously limited to lefties, I do not agree with your fundamental premise. For me, that is not even the point. What is more intriguing to me is understanding how one develops the type of arrogance that leads to the conclusion that on any given subject, disagreement means stupidity.

    You have a faulty premise.

That may be, but I can only respond to what you actually wrote:

"If you're the former, then fuck off, I'm not interested in discussing this with a tard fucker who has no idea what's going on in the world. I am neither the former, nor the latter. Because I think your basic idea-that conservatives have gotten dumber due to an increase in conservative media- is way off the mark. That increase has made conservatives much smarter. At the same time, it has highlighted the differences between liberal and conservative ideologies- differences that are bound to expand given that it is the ever-expanding role of government that is in dispute.

Now, I could certainly start a thread titled "Why are progressives so damn stupid", which would invite all that shared such a belief to join in a stroke-fest. However, I have lived long enough to know that "how long have you been molesting your child" type questions are really not intended to foster meaningful dialogue.

If thinking that a progressive tax rate is "Communism" is smarter, then what were they before? Mongoloids?

Ahhhh, more of the "when did you stop beating your wife" questions that not only fail to inspire honest discourse, but indicate a paucity of relevant knowledge of the subject at hand. I will take this as a sign of your superior knowledge and insight concerning conservative thought (at least as espoused by the geniuses on the left), and simply accept the wisdom proferred for what it is.

Conservatives are focused on the me, here, now of life. The world is big and frightening, so they're most comfortable with things that are safe, familiar, nostalgic (accurately or not), and local. They're like children in that they love stories and it doesn't matter if the stories or true or fairy tales, as long as they have happy endings they want to hear them over and over. Obviously, over time, this distorts their perspective of the world around them as it exists.

The rest of us aren't afraid all the time of anything and everything. We don't need to keep checking under the bed for bogeymen and conspiracies. We focus on the us, everywhere, and anytime. We leave childhood behind us and still love stories, but we recognize the difference between real and fictional and we work towards happy endings to the true stories we're writing with every day of our endeavors.

The differences are pretty much due to the function of the prefontal cortex. That's where judgment, decision-making, comprending cause and effect and long term planning take place. Some of us have fully developed, fully functional PCs, others suffer from those that are under-developed, deficient, or diseased.

Those in the latter group should thank their lucky stars they're tolerated by the rest of us to the extent that they are, because they can be a real pain in the ass as they continually get in the way.

I see Pho King still can't answer why conservatives have become so incredibly dumb.

I think I will start a thread asking why are liberals so easily brain washed into thinking government must give them something.

Start it. It's a sick fetish many liberals are stricken with, and a good question.

It is a point of view so self-aggrandizing that it is not worthy of consideration. The "if you don't agree with me its because you are stupid" type of validation. Very impressive.
