This is the case of a Soviet Partisan Vassili Kononov who burned alive 9 Latvian Villagers.
He was convicted in 2008 for this crime and the conviction was upheld by the European Court of Human Rights in 2010. He went to hell in 2011.
The conviction was protested by Russian President Vladimir Putin, among others.
