I'm a Vietnam vet, so I was a "federal employee" of sorts during my military service then. I also worked less than a year for the state of Nevada when I tutored for the university. I've worked in two careers, electric power generation and distribution and in communications, the latter for most of my working life.

None of that has anything to do with my success in financial planning and investing. I could expound on that but doubt if you'd benefit from my experience, out of sheer contrariness.

Most conservatives don't understand how anyone could possibly retire early through smart money management and investing. In their mind, something like that is "impossible." They like to talk about "saving" and "cutting spending" until they're blue in the face, but none of them are able to apply that stuff in their own life. I wonder what is the root cause of their peculiar pathology?
