Again, not seeing these "great lengths".

To say nothing of the reality that no other religions have so many prophecies fulfilled in one man with such specificity, even down to when He would be revealed as Messiah.

No it wasn't. The Christian religion was slowly dying until Jesus and the devil was unveiled.

Hog wash! Matthew 10:22-23 didn't happen. Matthew 16:27-28 and Mark 9:1 and Luke 9:27 also were prophecies that went unfulfilled. Matthew 26:62-64 and Mark 14:60-62 says Jesus informs a high priest that he will personally witness his imminent return while the high priest was still alive.

Well, since Christianity BEGAN with Jesus, it could hardly be slowly dying BEFORE Him, now could it?

That's a head scratcher, since I was referring to the OT Messianic prophecies that were fulfilled in Jesus. We can talk about your misunderstanding of the others later if you want.

So, you really don't have any examples of other religions that made specific prophecies for well over a thousand years that were all fulfilled in one man? Your post was just a kneejerk reaction?

No, my post was a snarky observation about you referring to ancient prophecies that were fulfilled by a book written after the fact as "reality".

The book of Isaiah was most certainly NOT written after the fact. Check into it before you spout that line, and check with CR to see if the OT books of Daniel or the Psalms, for example, were written before or after Jesus. That line of thinking will eventually lead you to claim that the OT was written after the NT, which is clearly ridiculous. Jesus even quoted from the OT, as did every Jewish scholar of his day.

Open question for any Jewish scholar on the board. Were the OT books written before or after Jesus walked the earth in human form? There seems to be some confusion on the matter. I would have thought the Dead Sea Scrolls would have settled it, but hey, chime in.

I think his point is that the NT was written quite a while after Jesus died and "facts" fitting OT prophesies could have been inserted into the narrative.

Someone is paying attention. The whole thread is a debate on wether or not Jesus existed at all so I think its interesting to make the leap that not only did he exist, but fulfilled ancient prophecies.

We know he existed because he fulfilled OT prophesies.

Everyone on this thread needs to read the book, 'The Case for Christ' by Lee Strobel. It addresses just about every misconception or objection put forth by nonbelievers when it comes to Christianity. And the hardcore atheists like antiquity really need to stop getting all their information from zealous, Christianity-hating antitheist sites like infidels.org and the like.

    That is all.
And if you want it, come and get it... for crying out loud!
