It is difficult for any decent person to sit back and not comment on the anti-Semitism,racism ,sexism ,and all-around ignorance espoused on the majority of DA's posts,it's fucking sad when one gets a warning for simply being a decent person.

Retard, when you read through a thread, click the multiquote button on all the comments that upset you. That way would will appear as if you mind can organize things to a higher degree than that of an infant penquin.

I'm sorry....but again, the Ed Schultz', and Bill Maher's on the left aren't misogynistic? Because why? Years of verbal abuse against women earns them a pass because....they verbally attack women on the right. You're all ok with this? Lulu...you there? Lily? You both are happy with this? Palin is a cunt, a slut, and a twat?
Either, or both of you...defend this.
Again, I'd never even heard of Ed before this thread. But what he said sucks.
I do know who Maher is, but:
http://www.nytimes.com/2001/10/08/bu...l?pagewanted=2
He might be full of crap, though. Or has changed his mind.Mr. Maher, who grew up in River Vale, N.J., and graduated from Cornell with a degree in English, is by all accounts, a news buff. He considers himself a libertarian. And that puts him at odds at times with conservatives, at times with liberals, and at times with executives of Disney, who are said, for example, to be no fans of his criticism of the war against drugs.
Heh, HOLY SHIT. Ok since this you have been stuck on this the past 5 days and you are clearly going to continue to obsess about this... I'll answer the question again. I didn't think I left any room for misinterpretation when I said it's NEVER acceptable to call a woman these names, so I'll try it again.
I vaguely remember both of these name calling incidents since it was, well, 4 years ago. I don't remember if they publicly apologized to Laura and Sarah which they absolutely should have, but yes, both fall into the misogynistic pig category. It is completely inappropriate and woman-hating to dismiss a woman by publicly calling her a slut because you disagree with her views. I find Bill Mayer disgusting and obnoxious and he's never seemed to have an ounce of respect for women. Ed Schultz, I really don't know much about him other than he has a show on MSNBC (?). I think Hillary Clinton has probably received the worst of the verbal abuse over the years, however.

i love that after basically reading this entire thread, the thing that is most obvious is that seemingly everyone critical of rush limbaugh's comments, apparently did not consider them in context, or more likely, didn't hear them at all. so let's have some context......
a 30 year-old woman testifies before our lawmakers in regard to her contraceptive needs, as they relate to them being covered, or not, by insurance. given the amount of money she claims this "necessary expense" costs, rush limbaugh makes some comical, sarcastic assertions about why her declared sexual behavior might cost so much. of course, it was all in an effort to illustrate the ridiculousness of the entire proceeding: an adult woman, in essence, going in front of a body of congress, to beg for funding to help prevent the natural consequences of her sexual choices. you might have also missed the brilliant link that rush drew between this woman, as a supposedly common example of an intelligent, modern, liberated woman, going in front of congress to testify to her reliance on the support of a body comprised traditionally, and primarily of old white men.
it's embarrassing. can the grown woman really not afford the minor expense of birth control? is it not sad that her first instinct, apparently, is to rely on government to solve her "problem"? as a liberated, intelligent woman, apparently incapable of affording the expense, is it not sad that simply abstaining from the activity she supposedly cannot afford is not one of her courses of action? she seems to be nothing more than a fine example of the product of being raised by people, and in a country where she was never forced to confront her responsibilities to herself......she is......irresponsible. and more disturbingly, she is a law student. if she can't handle the most basic responsibilities of being a person, on her own, imagine the consequences of her being responsible for upholding, defending, or interpreting law in general. and the president told her "her parents should be proud." proud of what? proud of contributing to setting back the efforts of women's liberation efforts by begging for congress to recognize her need for someone else to bear the expense of her personal choices? proud of her providing evidence that her parents raised a person who has no concept of personal responsibility on the most basic level? proud that she appeared weak and helpless before the entire nation?
the only thing shameful that rush limbaugh did was to apologize when he had done nothing wrong.
meanwhile, all the attention is further drawn away from the fact that neither the president, nor congress has any constitutional right to mandate that anyone in this country buy anything, the real issue with the current health care legislation debate, let alone the unconstitutionality of trying to dictate the nature of what private religious organizations provide in terms of health care coverage.

"We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm." - Winston Churchill
Anyone who needs to degrade women with sexual barbs in order to offer his or her point of view on the topic has issues. Rush was out of line as was Shultz when he did the same.

BTW, I've noticed that some think that Ms. Fluke said it was 3,000 per year. This is incorrect. If you read her testimony she refers to 3,000 during law school (3 years).
That comes to ~83 per month for birth control pills, and for those who can't use the generics, that sounds about right.
Right now "I" could not afford 83 per month for contraceptives. Fortunately I don't need them, but for many people (married and single) that 83 is just not in the budget.
Oh, and I still have to wonder if the married women who want their employers to provide coverage for contraceptives are "sluts" and "prostitutes", too. No one has answered that yet.
