Yes. We must. Because god forbid a man should be forced to endure that.
I don't listen to Rush (I agree with Riz, he's a bloviating blowhard). But I admit, I replied quickly to Vader's post (which kinda pissed me off), without reading the entire thread or looking into the details of this story. I was speaking in a more general way, I should've made that clear.
Anyhow, the main problem I have is something that Lulu mentioned earlier, federal funding of Planned Parenthood, or any health program that covers abortion, or birth control, for that matter.
The problem with that is: it's not the reality. Give me a few minutes, I'll get the stats. A good chunk of pregnancies happen while the women is using some form of birth control. And it ESPECIALLY doesn't work among young people, who are already irresponsible as it is. As we know, many young people have sex when they're drunk, or not mature enough to handle birth control in a responsible way. I'm not saying it's always like that, but the whole idea of birth control or "safe sex" being the Savior and answer to all of this, is part of the problem, imo. What I cannot wrap my head around is birth control is the answer to zero abortions. If birth control is affordable, there is literally no reason why there ever needs to be another abortion.

I realize there is a lot of "user error". However, if we can start with a place of affordable birth control (not abortion, just birth control) that's a very good start. Especially when women are paying for their own health insurance. That is what irks me about this issue. Planned Parenthood is problematic, I'll give you that. I think they'd do best to have two divisions - one that is preventative care for indigent patients which gets federal funding and another that does abortions, cash pay only. I may be pro-choice but I'd love to see a world where women aren't desperate and make that decision.
EDit: I should also add, I have seen the data you are referring to. "Some form of birth control" means condoms, rhythm and pull out. Not entirely effective. The pill is 99% effective and while it doesn't protect against disease, it certainly would solve the issue of unwanted pregnancies.

Here's what the woman who's been called a slut and whore here and on national radio actually said... she seems classy and articulate to me.
BTW some of you should be embarrassed for your lack of class.

Actually, the data I was referring to, IIRC, included the pill. I haven't found it yet (I was doing something else for a bit) but I did find something else.... something interesting, that shows how relying on the pill or condoms as the answer is dangerous.
"Fifty-four percent of women who have abortions had used a contraceptive method (usually the condom or the pill) during the month they became pregnant. Among those women, 76% of pill users and 49% of condom users report having used their method inconsistently, while 13% of pill users and 14% of condom users report correct use." (from the Guttmacher Institute)
Note: It does say that the majority of those pregnancies happened because of inconsistent (or improper) use of the pill or condoms... But as I was saying, with young people that's often the way it goes.
But even among those who report using it correctly (13%), pregnancy still occurs.
The other stat that I was thinking about was more shocking (and sobering) than this one... I'll see if I can find that and post it here later.
And if you want it, come and get it... for crying out loud!

I guess again it comes down to user error. Relying on the pill is dangerous if you don't take it every day because it won't be effective. I really don't get that. I've missed it one day then have to double up but it's got the days of the week on there. It's not like you can't figure out you didn't take it. So I guess other methods such as IUD are good options for the people who can't seem to remember anything. Nonetheless, that needs to be covered by insurance as well.
Abortions are already "free" paid for by the taxpayers.Collegienne complains that so many coeds are having sex, their Catholic school must pay for contrace
Next the kook left will be asking for "free" cab fare to the nearest abortion mill for a quick reaming/vacuuming and/or cleansing of the disease.
How far do the kooks take this? Taxpayer paid nurses to wipe their asses? Blow their nose? How much Big Gov't is too much?
When are normal people going to say enough and put an end to this horseshit?
I will. As it was once said on SNL, "let them buy their own erections!". This is the point. We agree that Viagra is a recreational drug. For the vast majority of these complaining women, the Pill is also a recreational drug.
And of course it needs to be underlined that I have no problem with contraception at all. I disagree with the law forcing people to pay for it if they have religious objections to doing so.

No, you won't. Because at the core of this issue, it's sexism. It's treating women like they are children and not able to make decisions for themselves. If something is approved by the FDA, it is not recreational.
Yet you have no problem with schools requiring students to pay $1895/year and profiting from costly insurance that doesn't take care of their needs. And of course it needs to be underlined that I have no problem with contraception at all. I disagree with the law forcing people to pay for it if they have religious objections to doing so.
So what?
