The Men Who Stared at Goats: Was it real?

I saw this film this weekend and it blew me away! Anyone else see it?

The film is supposedly based on a true story.

Anyway I really wonder how much of it is indeed true?

Psychic soldiers? The New Earth Army? Incorporating Barney in inhumane torture?

Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.

Based on a true story generally means 'loosely' based.
But I'm pretty sure the CIA did indeed employ remote viewers.

Im pretty sure some of it had to do with an actual event that happened in some point in history. But then again even paranormal activity was based on true events and we have seen where that has gone

Somewhat more real than the tooth fairy. The CIA did have a remote viewing program.

I think the "based on a true story" part was ment as a joke, since it is a comedy.

Yes the CIA got heavily involved in psychic studies for a period of time back in the sixties and seventies. Almost all of it remains classified largely because, one suspects, that they'd just as soon no one ever found out exactly how much time and money they wasted on the boondoggle before they gave up getting anything really useful. And again yes they got into largely because the Russians spent some time on it. Other than that the movie is mostly a bad joke. Primarily because a bad joke in this case is infinitely more entertaining than the reality.

One of the Penn and Teller 'Bullshit' programs dealt with psychic crap. It should be required viewing for people who believe that shit.

History is full of crap. We had the CIA testing people with LSD, some willingly and some not. This stuff has been happening since the 40s.
