Why should Richard Nixon be held to a higher degree of loyalty to the constitution than Benedict Arnold is? All arguments about dirty politics accepted by a jaded citizenry are beside the point. How 'bout this: a Buddist rep in congress shuts down Christian prayer meetings held on the open floor of the House. No problem with an informal Christian coalition holding prayer meetings outside the common floor, on their own time. Christians should do the same if some athiest coalition wants to hold an official bitch session about removing all signs of religion from all gov't functions and property. Can't be done in a practical sense.
But all current and future functions can be focused on the secular needs of the state, without consciously recognizing or excluding any particular religion. Too bad the SC has yet to outline the particulars for the Republic's officials, so the state can deal with more important issues.

Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.

The 1st Amendment says:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
This DOES NOT mean that the right has permission to force their religious beliefs on others. It DOES NOT mean their religious beliefs are, IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM, meant to be the law of the land.
-- The First Amendment
In order to guarantee an atmosphere of absolute religious liberty, this country's founders also mandated the strict separation of church and state. Largely because of this prohibition against government regulation or endorsement of religion, diverse faiths have flourished and thrived in America since the founding of the republic. Indeed, James Madison, the father of the United States Constitution, once observed that "the [religious] devotion of the people has been manifestly increased by the total separation of the church from the state."

The word "GOD" does NOT appear in the Constitution. This is why:
The word "God" does not appear within the text of the Constitution of the United States. After spending three-and-a-half months debating and negotiating about what should go into the document that would govern the land, the framers drafted a constitution that is secular.
SECULAR BY THE FRAMERS .... ERGO ... NO CHURCH AND STATE .... OTHERWISE WE HAVE A RIDICULOUS THEOCRACY.

Again, for you rightist toolbags: The 1st Amendment DOES NOT give you permission to make your religious beliefs the law. Learn to deal with it OR GET THE HELL OUT OF THE COUNTRY.

I like how you guys turned a thread about Santorum into rampant Obama bashing. It's funny.
