    I Find Antiquity's...

...stance towards religion refreshing, particularly for someone on the DA right-wing. I noticed it first last year when there were all those threads about whether Islam is bad or not. I probably disagree with him on most other political subjects, but he's fair and balanced when it comes to that one thing, at least. Which is more than can be said for most members left or right.

    Just saying.

I wouldn't say he's fair and balanced at all on the topic of religion. He's an atheist, and if you read all his posts on religion or spirituality, they're usually negative and sometimes very divisive. Read what he said the other day about "the next time there's a convention for those rapture-ready pro-Israel christians."

You just think he's "refreshing" because it's more common for people on the right to be believers, so he is different in that respect.
And if you want it, come and get it... for crying out loud!
'cause this love that he has given you was never in doubt.

He was the only DA member on the right who, on the subject of Islam, made serious distinctions between moderates and extremists. He's also been consistently balanced on subjects like Israel and the place of religion in the US, which from my point of view is pretty encouraging.

I interpreted that as ire towards a group of people who are genuinely frightening. I don't think that was supposed to be a threat, not least towards all Christians up to and including yourself. But, if it comes to that, I find all religious belief to be frightening anyway.

No, I find his views on religion to be refreshing and everything else to be questionable, in much the same way I find your ability to be eloquent and open about your faith admirable without that impinging my concerns about your commitment to Ron Paul.

See, this is what happens when I try to give something back for once.

Archaix. I really should've used a smiley in my previous post. It came across as far too serious.

I actually agree with him on the topic of Islam (in making a distinction between the moderates and the crazed extremists) although I'm not sure if I read his comments on that.

I didn't mean to be too hard on antiquity, but I just had to say something when you said his views were refreshing, because the first thought that came to me was, "that's because he's an atheist who agrees with you."

I didn't know he was an athiest until you said, actually.

Reiteration is not the same as explanation. Say something interesting or get out.

That's just how quickly a complimentary thread on this site turns to shit.

It's still untrue. I'm not leaving because you don't like pithy, truthful answers. There have been a number of people on the right that have defended Islam, and it's adherents on this board. That you haven't noticed them is probably more telling about you, than it is about people on the right.

I'd like to take this opportunity to compliment the one leftist I know that doesn't have shit for brains, (which is not you, Archaix, in case you were wondering).

To the rest of you leftist swine, don't you dare fuck with my complimentary post, mkay?
