I bet it works against the GOP in framing the election.
Which makes the whole thing a cynical political ploy by the president. IOW, par for the course. Contraception being a good idea or not is a moot point. The president simply doesn't have the authority to do this, and I hope Congress grows a pair and slaps him down.
    The ambassador died, Obama lied.

"A new Public Policy Polling survey, conducted nationally on behalf of Planned Parenthood, finds strong support for providing women with prescription birth control without a co-pay. Beyond that the poll finds that a majority of voters, including a majority of Catholics, don’t believe Catholic hospitals and universities should be exempted from providing the benefit.

    http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...&ct=clnk&gl=us

Overall, 56% percent of voters support Obama. Among Independents it's 55%.

Fifty-seven percent of voters think that women employed by Catholic hospitals and universities should have the same rights to contraceptive coverage as other women, and that includes 56% of Independents.

Fifty-eight percent of voters say they oppose Republicans in Congress trying to take away the birth control benefit that saves women hundreds of dollars a year, including 56 percent of independents.

Conservatives may think they've won some kind of battle after Obama softened the provision only to find out they've given the president another reason for the country to vote for him and not vote for any Republican. The more the candidates battle to out-conservative each other to win their party's nomination, the further they distance themselves from voters in the general election.

Bottom line, Obama wins big on the contraception issue, on two fronts.

They're medical refuges for Catholics who don't want to be exposed to complete medical care. Catholic hospitals limit their services to practices permitted by directives established by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Catholic Heath Care Services are spelled out in the 12-page document found at http://www.usccb.org/.

As previously noted, totally irrelevant. Republicans are not taking anything away. The biggest thing, however, is that the president simply doesn't have the authority to order this. There would likely be massive support for the president ordering electronics companies to provide big screen TVs for free, but he can't do that either.
    The ambassador died, Obama lied.

It's part of the PPACA, the law of the land. Obama is enforcing the law, which is the duty of the Executive Branch.

Another leftist move on eliminating rights of people to practice Christianity as they wish. I bet if it were GOP'ers coming down on sharia, the damn kooks would be shitting kittens and trying to occupy something.

Why are these kook leftists always forcing their beliefs on others anyway?

Nobody is taking away our rights to eschew use of contraceptives, for any reason.

Could somebody explain to me where the President gets the authority to simply command that a certain groups must pay for something, and Bingo, they have to do it?

It called socialism. Government control of the means of production. Or reproduction, in this case. Ha!!

Laws cannot authorize the President to do things not in the Constitution.

So where does he get the authority to simply command that a certain groups must pay for something, and Bingo, they have to do it?

Even if that were the case, socialism would be preferable to the fascism of the Catholic Church. People pay their deductibles and their monthly premiums and they should have access to affordable birth control - and it should not be dictated by the Catholic Church.

I suppose you haven't realized yet that this is included in Obamacare? It is. Most birth control is a $5 co-pay anyway so I don't know why it's making some of you stroke out. You all look pretty foolish having a conniption fit over this.

The law, not the president, says who has to pay for what. The president is enforcing the law.

Yes, it's part of the PPACA: http://www.hrsa.gov/womensguidelines/ It's the law.

The Constitution, not Congress or the President, says what those other people can make laws about.

And decrees declaring that this person or that person will be forced to pay for "benefits", are nowhere to be found in that document.

Obama's ruling (and BTW most of Obamacare) is flatly unconstitutional.
