"A new Public Policy Polling survey, conducted nationally on behalf of Planned Parenthood, finds strong support for providing women with prescription birth control without a co-pay. Beyond that the poll finds that a majority of voters, including a majority of Catholics, don’t believe Catholic hospitals and universities should be exempted from providing the benefit.

Overall, 56% percent of voters support Obama. Among Independents it's 55%.
Fifty-seven percent of voters think that women employed by Catholic hospitals and universities should have the same rights to contraceptive coverage as other women, and that includes 56% of Independents.
Fifty-eight percent of voters say they oppose Republicans in Congress trying to take away the birth control benefit that saves women hundreds of dollars a year, including 56 percent of independents.
Conservatives may think they've won some kind of battle after Obama softened the provision only to find out they've given the president another reason for the country to vote for him and not vote for any Republican. The more the candidates battle to out-conservative each other to win their party's nomination, the further they distance themselves from voters in the general election.
Bottom line, Obama wins big on the contraception issue, on two fronts.
