Our resident warmongers, Truth Chicken, Ganja Drug Chicken, and Cow Chicken have vanished from this thread. I wonder why they won't articulate exactly why Iran is a threat to the US.

Well I guess because we don't like Iran much, and think their leader has a strange name.
We also need something to keep oil speculators jacking up the futures contracts so there can continue to be record profits.
And well, because we "think" they're getting a nuke, and contrary to how Pakistan India have handled their nukes, we don't think Iran will play nicely and will try to nuke someone, particularly Isreal, even though the Dumbass in charge of Iran knows it would mean utter destruction if he did.
And that's all I can think of right now. Oh, and I'm sure they smell funny, too.
I'm going to make this Really, really simple and I dare anyone to refute it.
1. Obama doesn't want to bomb Iran for the time being and has the capability of running with that plan.
2. Israel does want to attack because it thinks it has a limited window in which to do so, but knows they'll only set it back a few years. Israel doesn't feel it can trust the U.S. to come through in time.
3. Obama is trying to use Syria to proxy Iranian interests. Russia stands in the way and won't back down because the US is weakening. Israel knows the spring elections in Russia will be fraught with western disruption and is counting on that as the primary time to hit Iran.
4. Iranian interests is simply to be a power player on the middle east stage.
5. Back to number 1, Obama doesn't want to derail the world economy in an election year. Israel sent their peeps over a few weeks ago to measure our willingness to support them.
6. There is a line in the sand and both countries are trying steer away from crossing that line because the ramificatons are too bad.
7. Since there is no diplomacy here the potential of sword rattling to cause unintended miscalculations and uncertain consequences is very high.
8. The saber rattling in the media and in congress is testament to how insane the Israel lobby is and how powerful they really are. It is plausible that they will try to stage something to screw up more rational foreign policy.
9. It's funny that retards on this site actually think that Obama has Israel's yellow striped back.
10 The End.

As far as 1 and 2. The zionist regime desperately wants the USA to continue to do its AIPAC dirty work. The zionist regime attacking Iran is high risk and will insure everyone in the world will see them for what they are, racist psychopathic war mongers. That would be a difficult public relations issue to deal with despite the efforts of FOX, MSNBC, CNN, ETC. Obama seems to be a total puppet and will do as he is told.

Is that what your YouTube schizoid told you? Too bad he doesn't have parents to pay his rent like you.

Remember that all foreign policy is really domestic policy, especially for Israel. But in this case, domestic policy for Israel includes the United States.
One purpose of Israel's sabre-rattling is this:
1. Israel will do literally anything to avoid making a settlement with the Palestinians (i.e, ending the occupation).
2. Israel knows that second term US Presidents work a lot harder on pushing Israel toward a settlement with the Palestinians.
3. Therefore, Netanyahu wants to either make sure Obama is a one-term President, or leverage promises from Obama not to push Israel toward a settlement with the Palestinians during his second term.
4. The sabre-rattling serves the two goals outlined in #3: First, it helps crazy Republicans argue that Obama is "appeasing" Iran rather than bombing, hopefully helping Obama to be defeated; second, the only way Obama can stop Israel from following through on its sabre-rattling (starting a disasterous war with Iran) is to make promises to Netanyahu not to push Israel toward a settlement with the Palestinians during his second term.
In other words, theatening to bomb Iran is a win-win for Israel, politically speaking.
Note: The "threat" posed by Iran vis a vis Israel is the threat of deterrance with regard to the Palestinians -- the threat that Iran might at some point be able to restrict Israel's aggressive expansionist policies and practices.
The threat vis a vis the USA doesn't pass the straight face test.
^ A few factual errors above.
1. Foreign policy is not actually domestic policy.
2. The Palestinians will do anything to preempt an actual settlement with the Israelis, like conduct suicide bombings meant to disrupt the proceedings.
3. If Iran wants to avoid a war, they can always stop manufacturing nuclear arms.
Etc. Etc. Etc.
