I guess you haven't been paying attention to the President and others who describe our supposed goals in "Af-Pak." Those goals involve defeating the Taliban and installing a stable, pro-Western government.

(When you're trying to figure out what someone's goals are, you might try looking at the methods used and the costs invested in achieving the goals; if they are radically disproportionate and/or unrelated, you probably are mistaken about the goals. Also, bin Laden was killed in Pakistan, and al-Awlaki was killed in Yemen. These facts should put you on notice that those assassinations were not the goals of the Afghanistan war.)

Bush did mention installing a democratic government as a loose objective, but the primary stated goal was to dismantle Al Qaeda, which most would admit we accomplished.

To defeat the Taliban, we would also have to invade Pakistan, which was never on the table. We'll let the Pakistanis handle that.

The mission will be a marginal success and the U.S will likely have to mop it up. Of course, the 150 thousand missiles aimed at Israel are bound to kill some of the 9000 American soldiers who are stationed there. The US has been sending them there for months now. Since the iron dome missile defense failed the one and only time it was used it is safe to say that there will other failures and the chances of dead Americans leading up to another useless war will be extremely high.
