Flipping is part of political life.

Get Real Miss Butternut and Co.

Ron Paul was never in it to win it. He enjoys being right. He enjoys delivering babies. He enjoys speaking plainly about issues he knows and cares about to people who will listen. But he's clearlty not interested in leading a country. People know it. They're not voting for him for a reason.

    Ron Paul is a Pussy.

    Wrong.

First, Romney will be more aligned with conservative values than Obama. Is he everything we want? No. But, I'd rather have 20% of what I want than 0%.

Secondly, if we choose a 100% conservative candidate, he has no chance of serving anyway...because he can't be elected in America in 2012. It's not reality. So, again, by sticking with conservative values and refusing to compromise means we will get 0% of what we want. Not a good plan.

If they vote for Romney, the GOP will know they don't need to pay any attention to what the social and religious Conservative voters want. All they have to do is point at the current Democratic candidate and start screaming, and the conservative will rush to the polls to vote for whoeverthehell the GOP told them to. If they vote for a pro-choice candidate like Flip Romney, they might as well vote for the Green party, because they'll never be able to influence GOP policy again.
Both parties are in the same quandry. I know a lot of liberals who are disappointed in Obama...but when it comes down to it, they know he's more aligned with what they want than any Republican candidate. So, they will hold their noses and vote to re-elect Obama. Am I right? Of course I am! Liberals are smart enough to know that even though Obama hasn't remade America into a socialist utopia as he promised, he's still better than the other options.

Besides, the president isn't the only seat of power in this country. People elected some pretty conservative Tea Party members to Congress last time around. Those people will likely still be there...and they will act as a tempering factor to Romney's liberal tendancies. Romney can't sign liberal bills that never come to his desk. But, he will be under enormous pressure to sign conservative bills that were passed by a congress under his party's control. Am I right? Yup.

The problem with conservatives is their inability to face reality. They think that we must elect the ideal president in 2012...or keep Obama. Nothing in between will satisfy them.

We must have a president that can restore the constitution, balance the budget, and outlaw abortion...all in the first year of his term. WE WON'T ACCEPT ANYTHING LESS!!!

It would be funny if it wasn't so goddamned sad. Look around. Number one, such a person can not be elected. Period. The moderate middle will determine who the next president will be. Most of them don't even know what the fuck you're talking about. They haven't the slightest idea what's in the constitution...you expect them to vote to restore it?!??!

Concerning abortion...in case you have not noticed, the Supreme Court has taken the matter out of the president's hands...and that of the congress. Voting for a candidate based on their stance for or against is complete stupidity. There's not a goddamned thing they can do about it anyway!!! You can use it as a barometer of their morality or their thinking process, but that's about all.

Do you think liberals have brought us to this point overnight? Nope. It took decades. It will take decades to bring us back. We shouldn't demand it all right now. If we do, all we will do is re-elect Obama. What we need is to start turning the direction of the country the way we want to go. The election of Romney will do just that...slowly start turning the tide in our direction.

So, go ahead, stick to your high-minded principles. All you're doing is playing into the hands of liberals. They're perfectly willing to wait out out and chip away at everything we have left. When the country is in ashes around you, you can say you stood up for your principles. But, I recommend making an effort to stop the burning instead. Compromise. Get what we can now, and come back for more later. Change the direction of the nation toward the better. Don't expect that everything will change overnight. Keep the long-term goals in sight knowing that it may take a very long time to get there.

    Be reasonable.
    1. Abortion is NEVER going to be outlawed. Accept this fact and move on.
    2. Balancing the budget is fine as a long as business and the wealthy are forced to pay thier share. No loopholes. Republiswine will not do this and therefore, they are not worthy of the oval office.
    3. The SCOTUS will NOT touch Roe vs. Wade because they know, if they do, there will NEVER be another republican elected ANYWHERE for ANYTHING.
    4. Half the republican justices on the SCOTUS need to be removed from office.... starting with Justice Scalia.

Never is a long time, however I agree it shouldn't be overturned.

Again I agree, but all loop holes for all people no matter what their income is. But I have to ask you Vader, what is their fair share? Since the top 50% of federal income payers pay about 96% of the federal income taxes and the bottom 50% pay 4%, who should pay more?

I am afraid you have been brainwashed into believing the democratic party line.

    3. The SCOTUS will NOT touch Roe vs. Wade because they know, if they do, there will NEVER be another republican elected ANYWHERE for ANYTHING.
The SC will not change its ruling, not because of political pressure, but because there is a prescience set and its almost impossible to change it.

    4. Half the republican justices on the SCOTUS need to be removed from office.... starting with Justice Scalia.
Not according to the United States Constitution they won't be. As you said in point number one....live with it and move on.

I wouldn't say "never"...but I do think it is highly unlikely. In any case, I'm certain the president has no power to change it one way or the other. So, if you support a candidate for president solely on their stance on the issue (for OR against), you're deluded.

This is the stupidest thing I've read on here in a loooong time. You must understand that the word "loophole" is a euphamism for deductions. A lot of middle-class people depend on deductions (home mortgage interest, charitable contributions, etc) to make ends meet. As far as "paying their fair share", I'm not here to defend the wealthy. I'm certain most if not all of them could pay more tax. However, please consider that in the first place, raising taxes on the wealthy will not even come close to balancing the budget. And, in the second place, do you think there will be any negative or unforseen consequences of drastic tax increases on wealthy people? Think about it very hard and let me know.

You make it sound as though the public generally supports abortion rights. This is false. Roughly a third of the population is in favor. Roughly a third are against. And roughly a third are watching a sporting event and are simply tired of hearing the word "abortion".

There is an air of truth to this statement. I still do not like republican servitude to business and cannot vote for them because of it.

I am talking about making certain that companies like GE do not get away with payingf 0% tax as they did in 2010.

I don't like abortion either but I do not think the government needs involvement in it passed making sure the doctor performing the procedure has a license to practice medicine.

You are delusional. You think Democrats aren't owned by big business as well? Why do you think Obama hasn't done shit to stop NAFTA, for example?

He's talked and talked for three goddamned years about bringing jobs back...but hasn't lifted a finger to do anything about it. Why? Because he is bought and paid for.

You make the assumption that taxes are due. There are various write-offs for business losses, etc, that are totally legitimate. Would you care to point out specifically which "loopholes" you think GE shouldn't have been allowed to have?

I hear a lot of people say stuff like that. But, I thinik the logic is vacuous. In other words, 'I don't like domestic violence, but I think the government should be involved'.

If you knew anything about anything, you'd know that the founders gave the judiciary lifetime appointments for a reason. Care to guess what that reason might be?

It was supposed to be so that they could remain impartial (not having to worry about the popularity of their decisions); however, in those days, those on the SCOTUS were not sellouts. It's time to ammend the constitution to create short terms for SC justices. Since the current justices are APPOINTED, not elected, they have no reason to fear the popularity of their decisions. Scalia is a prime example of why life terms for justices are a BAD idea.

The SCOTUS needs to have a process by where all justices are barred from having any affiliation with any political party for any reason. Justices who are owned by their party are nothing more than robed politicians and this is unacceptable.
