In other words, you nothing about the history of Soviet Communism either.
Marx made no policy recommendations, nor did the Soviets take any from him. The theory of the Soviet economic model - that is, state capitalism - was absorbed from Lenin's Revolution and the State.
Marx's Kapital was an abstract analysis of the economic institution of capitalism which purported to demonstrate its instability based on Marx's theory of dialectical materialism.

Scandal? The government dispatched more firepower to arrest Nakoula Basseley Nakoula in Los Angeles than it did to protect its mission in Benghazi.
They weren't referring to anything, at all. They were just repeating the same hysterical, mindless crap they absorbed from the same web sites and talk radio programs that conned them into thinking that we needed to invade Iraq, and that they should vote to reelect Dubya.
Some people cannot learn from their past mistakes.

Is that why you'll be voting for Obama again?

Marx's analysis of capitalism is more than just a set of failed predictions. The particularities of his harsh criticism of capitalist institutions haven't been refuted, even if some aspects of them are now believed wrong; ie, his theory of profits.
nb, Marx said many times that he wasn't a Marxist.

I don't dispute that Paul brings in an interesting mix of people, but the polls I've seen show that when you put Paul against Obama, Obama wins. When you put Romney against Obama, Romney wins. I realize that's just a snapshot in time and there's a long campaign season to follow. Anything can happen, but I think Romney still has a better chance.
Some of the times Romney flipped, didn't he flip in our direction? I think that's a good thing. I'd rather have someone who thoughfully changes their opinion than someone who is rigid and follows one set of dictates for their entire life. Over my lifetime, I've change opinions about a lot of things...because I challenged my beliefs thoughtfully. I don't know if we can say if he truly had a change of heart/mind on issue or if he just thinks it benefits himself poltically to do so. No one can know that.
I don't hate Paul at all. In fact, I like him very much. I've seen that video before and I think it's wonderful. My issue with Paul doesn't have much to do with the fact that I think he's wrong. I think he's technically right about a vast number of things. Unfortunately, being correct and being elected are two different things. Being correct and being able to work within the reality we're now faced with are also two different things. For example, I can agree all day with Paul that the Federal Reserve is unconstitutional. So? What are we going to do about it? Abolish it? I, for one, can't see a realistic way to do that without wiping out our entire economy, every dime of savings held by Americans, and our prosperity.
In an ideal world, I'd be happy to throw my support behind Paul. Unfortunately, this is far from an ideal world.
We did not get to this postition overnight. Liberals came and took every inch they could over decades. Conservatives want the tide to be turned back overnight. It's not realistic. It is not going to happen. But, I think any Republican candidate would at least put the brakes on some of this insane shit Obama is doing. That's good enough for me at this point.
"A Liberal is a person who will give away everything they don't own."
It *definitely* won't happen if conservatives give up any influence they have in any party by demonstrating that they'll vote for whoever they're told to vote for. If they don't vote their values, their values will be swept back under the rug. The Republicans did that for 30 years -- every electino season they'd come out and talk up a bunch of Conservative values, get elected, then go back to ignoring the right. They're scared now that the true Conservatives actually expect to be represented now. If they vote for Romney, the GOP will know they don't need to pay any attention to what the social and religious Conservative voters want. All they have to do is point at the current Democratic candidate and start screaming, and the conservative will rush to the polls to vote for whoeverthehell the GOP told them to. If they vote for a pro-choice candidate like Flip Romney, they might as well vote for the Green party, because they'll never be able to influence GOP policy again.
They can't threaten to vote for a 3rd party or stay home if they prove that they don't have the political will to act on it.

You know, I think I get what Ron Paul is doing. He doesn't really stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning the presidency unless something drastically changes in the next few months. But he is bringing some very key issues to the forefront and he's using this as his platform. To that, I say thank god someone has the guts and integrity. He's making some people question the status quo (except the die hard warhawks which seem to come in both Dem and Rep these days). And the GOP'ers will step in line as they always do and vote the R candidate whomever that is (Romney best bet). What will be interesting are the independents and libertarians in some key pivotal states will decide this election and since Florida and Ohio aren't doing better than they were 4 years ago, and NC was on the line... my guess is those states go R.
