A Different Kind Of Truth is due out in March and they are about to tour. Roth is back and Hagar is probably driving one of his vintage cars 200 mph or faster.
First single released, Tattoo. I hope they can capture the magic they had before Roth left since the post-Roth music has generally be crap.
Their debut CD still ranks as one of the top-10 in rock history as far as I am concerned.
I still listen to their pre-Hagar music.

Not a big fan of "Tattoo," nor am I a fan of Van Halen replacing Michael Anthony with Eddie's kid. I do like Roth, though. I hope the album doesn't suck.

Michael Anthony added great backing vocals too. Van Halen is done. They sucked ever since they got Hagar!![]()
They tour playing old, great music. They did suck when Roth left and Hagar joined. They never were even close to the same.
Their music with Roth, the first few CDs, is still timeless. Their first 6 CDs are all good. Hagar ruined them.
THIS sounds more like the Van Halen that stole the show at the first Texxas Jam, way way back in 1979 in front of 90-thousand of us in 105 degree weather. Off their new CD.
I don't know, I kind of like Van Hagar.

Gotta admit I liked some of Hagar's stuff but I also liked Roth. Can't wait to hear the new CD. Tattoo is OK but it doesn't have the same energy the original Van Halen had IMO. Have to hear the rest of the CD to determine if it sucks or is good.

Hagar has a very good voice and Roth doesn't. In Rock n Roll, I have my "standards" as far as voice goes, but they are low. Malcolm Young is my Exhibit A. He didn't get into Julliard School and who cares? Not me.
Lemmy? No can (and no do or will ever) tolerate him or Motorhead. Told you. I have my "standards".
They never had the energy, the sheer raw anger, with Hagar. 3 more off the new one. Sounds much like Van Halen of old, and I still like Van Halen of old's music. But "the jury is out" until I hear it all a couple of times.queenlillian:

Not really moved by any of the new stuff, though I gotta say Wolfgang's bassing isn't as bad as I expected. It's also better than almost everything they've put out post-OU812; at the very least it's a step in the right direction.

OK, it's been a week, and I can't deny that the songs are really growing on me. There's a certain stylistic jumble and quirkiness you get from Roth-led Van Halen that's different than just about any band, and I just can't resist it. In particular, I'm really liking the harmonies -- they definitely mesh better with Roth. It's so much less polished and professional sounding than Van Hagar, but it's also so much better.
Still not as good as their early stuff, but I'm upgrading my rating here to: better than almost everything they've put out post-5150.

Wolfgang's OK. You're right he's a fattie, though.
The only reason he is in a band is because he is eddies son.
