    Work Travel :(

Does anyone get to travel someplace fun for work? I think I'll be spending about half my time in Feb and March out of LA for work. It'll be a mix between NY, DC, and Oakland.

Does anyone get to go anywhere particularly fun for work?

Traveling for work sucks. I used to have Vegas in my territory and I was there every 2 weeks but it isn't much fun when you're traveling alone for work. However, not to be negative nellie... NY, I'd take a few of those bus tours and eat at awesome restaurants. Oakland - don't leave the hotel after dark

I've been to Oakland a few times for work. We have a few offices there. The 'nicer parts' of Oakland aren't that bad and there are actually some great places to eat and drink there. NY for work is an awesome trip. My best friend used to live in the city, so it was a double bonus usually. He moved to SF now, but I still have a few aquaintaneces in the NY area.

I am out in Manhattan again in two weeks. It's going to be freezing there. Some great bars and places to hang out. I got tickets to a Rangers game at Madison Square Garden. Workt trips wear me out. I always go in thinking of ways to have fun, but when you have to do business all day, you spend most of your night unwinding. Japanesebaseball is the best ever. If you are ever there do not miss it. It is so much fun.

NYC sucked. It's tiring as hell dealing with it. They flew in staff from UK and we did training classes.
It rained most of the time there too. I saw a dead rat in the subway in Manhatten.

World travel is challenging. I am a novice at it but keep going. Next stop? Bolivia.

NY in May might be nice. Just don't stick with the city. Bronx River Pkwy is nice, just head north until you hit 81, turn around and head south again.

I was in NY 11 times last year and Chicago once. I like NY, though. I stay in Midtown and usually have the evenings off. Plus, I claim I have to have Sunday night in order to be in for a 9:00 on Monday every time, so I get Sunday free.

I just turned down a job that was NY/DC/SF/Paris. Would ahve been too much. I don't care too much for Paris. I mean, I'd like it if it weren't for all the French people there.

I'll revisit this thread in a few months when my work travels are finished and detail the full scope of the madness.

People who work in tourism industry: everybody envy them for being in the most wonderful places on the planet.. while they curse their luck as they're not able to live the fun that everybody else enjoy.

I did have this awful experience.

i travel quite a bit for my work. i was in san francisco for nearly a year. then in alaska for about 3-4 months. in and out of parts of los angeles.

right now i'm working at usc. i'll be heading out of here in mid february. who knows where i'll be next.

an interesting bit to note, it seems that i avoid acts of god from time to time. i was meant to be in new york one winter when there were blizzards and people were stuck in buses and what not. another time i was meant to be in texas when they had the hurricanes. and another i was meant to be in arkansas when they had the tornadoes.

i managed to avoid each of those natural disasters.
    for the first time

Unfortunatly, that flu wasn't missable , though?

I've been out of Ill. twice, once to run a friend down to mexico, and once to California, to see family. Thats all I've ever traveled.

The drive to Mexico was beautiful, in some areas. Never seen such a beautiful sky full of stars , as Utah.

The plane to Anehiem, was horrible. I felt sick for 3 days after, and never plan to get on another plane.

I do envy people who get to see Ireland , or Italy, both places I'de love to go one day.

    Maybe by boat.

btw; My friend stayed out of jail, and never came back from Mexico.
