The Civil War was the greatest tragedy in the history of the United States. If Lincoln had been a good president, he would have found a way to prevent it. In my opinion, Lincoln was the worst president ever.

Lincoln was a war criminal.

Lincoln Election guaranteed the Civil War. There was Nothing he could have done to prevent it. The Attack on Fort Sumpter initiated it. Historians of a certain religious bent have always looked upon it as our penance for 150 years of slavery.

Okay help this naive uninformed Yankee dame. Was it, the Civil War, somewhat about the South not having enough skilled labor or as much as the North did and the abolition of slavery would have mucked up the work force and work production in the South?
Depends almost entirely upon what historian you wish to read. If you asked the average soldier in the field why they were fighting the war you would get a variety of answers. The North won largely because there was more of them and they were far more industrialized.
A lot of soldiers in the North fought as much if not more to preserve the union as they did to free the slaves. After the Union began drafting soldiers more than a few fought because someone else paid them to take thier place. A lot of sldiers in the South fought not so much to preserve slavery but because Northern industrialization had in certain respects been built on the backs of Southerners through an array of protective tarrifs that were designed to keep their Northern neighbor's products competitive with British imports. Interestingly enough you can find a better overview of what the men in the field were thinking in the novel 'Killer Angels' than you will in most history books North or South.

OK Czech it out! I saw Abraham Lincoln Vam,pire Hunter and realized that this war was really to stop the Vampires from taking over the southern states!
Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.
