Portal (1 and 2) are great mind-puzzle games.
Fallout(s)
If you are going to get them shooter games, I suggest the Halo trilogy first and the Battlefield games (More authentic then Call of Duty)
Grandma got the kids an XBOX.
Give me a rundown of the best games.
I know call of duty is a good one, what else is out there?

Scandal? The government dispatched more firepower to arrest Nakoula Basseley Nakoula in Los Angeles than it did to protect its mission in Benghazi.
Skyrim, Batman: Arkham City
I Pledge Resistance, to the Nazi Flag, of the United Police States of America, and to the Private Federal Reserves for which it stands. One Corporation, under Goldman Sachs, unaccountable, with poverty and slavery for all.
I second the portal series. Great games, some humor, problem solving, and nice graffics.
I recently got Bioshock 2 and am enjoying that a lot.
Just Xbox or Kinect as well?
i got WWE '12 and that's pretty good if they like wrestling games.
Portal is one of my absolute favorites (can you tell? xD)
The Elder Scrolls series is fantastic. Both "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" and "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" are on the XBox. Great role-playing games. [gamestop girl disclaimer]Both are rated M for Mature, however, and are recommended for ages seventeen or older[/gamestop girl disclaimer]
Mass Effect is also very good, more of a role-playing shooter.
And there's no sense crying
over every mistake,
you just keep on trying
'till you run out of cake.
And the science gets done,
and you make a neat gun
for the people who are
still alive...
