Today is DAY 11 that I am without power. Thanks to that October snowstorm that hit the northeast, power in my town was knocked out Oct 29. 40% of the town is still dark and cold. I've been showering at work, grilling all my meals, and going to bed at night all bundled up (temps have been dipping into the 20's). I've burned through about 1/3 cord of firewood. Good times.

Dad-in-law hooked up a generator last night, so I have heat and running water finally. The anger I have towards the power company is reaching high levels.

In all seriousness, though, glad to hear you're alright. Many people in the South also have wood heat as a backup, even though it doesn't get very cold down here. I guess it's more of a cultural thing than one of necessity for us.

Sorry to hear you have no power. CL&P sucks. We didn't lose power but we did buy a generator after Irene.

Hang in there Baboon, your not alone. I'm guessing after this fail heads will roll.
