I am running a marathon this Saturday

You heard me. That would be a 26.2 mile run for those folks not familiar with it.

I've trained my ass off for it (literally...I am a lean and mean 152 pounds now). I am feeling good. Anxious and nervous, but confident. For finish times, I figure 4:30 if I struggle, 4:15 if I run steady, 4:00 or less if I have a really good day. Realistically I say I'll finish somewhere between 3:58 and 4:10. I'll be happy though with anything under 4:30.

"Why run a marathon", you ask? To see if I can.

I had another thread going about this but it got deleted in The Great DA Purge of 2011. Bunch of bullshit if you ask me.

I can run 4 or 5 miles in about one hour every day. I am very proud of you as one of your fans.

    Best of luck.

Apparently I'm running a half in three weeks. Might've been for two runs this year, but I cycle a lot, and my base fitness is killing it. Still in about the best shape of my life after doing the marathon two years ago then hitting the bike constantly.

Good luck in your half! I ran my first one three weeks ago. Finished in 1:48. Surprised myself with that performance.

Forgot to mention, this is my first marathon.

Thanks! I've been eating a little extra since Monday, but I'll really load up today and tomorrow. I'll probably just eat a little extra pasta and balls Friday night but nothing too big. I'll want my stomach/intestines to be normal for Saturday.

Rosie Ruiz! LOL That's one way to do it.

From what I've heard, it's a pretty easy course. A couple of small hills but nothing major.

I've been holding steady at 152 for two months now...down from 202 last summer. Once I decided to lose the weight, it pretty much dripped off me.

Ran my marathon today. Finished in 4:16. Damn, that was a hard thing to do. I'm very happy with the result though. My last eight miles were a real struggle due to cramping and dehydration issues, but I managed to push through and run the entire 26.2 miles (no walk breaks). I felt like complete shit after crossing the finish line and had to sit under a tree for 30 minutes. But, it was a solid 100% effort. Finished pretty much right smack in the middle of all 2300 finishers. Good job, self. I think with a couple of solid years of running under my belt and more training (rather that just starting out six months ago), I could shave an entire hour off that time.
