God communicates with no one, And if by chance he does have direct lines of "communication", Then he's definitely not listening.
In my 38 short years, I've noticed that people who claim to communicate with God are usually donning a bomb vest, or a straitjacket.
Does God exist? Yeah i believe so, I've never met anyone old enough, Nor wise enough to convince me other wise. But anyone claiming to communicate with God probably needs to examine their conscious, And take a loooong hard look in the mirror.

I feel no need to prove anything about my own personal faith and journey so in the same vein I ask for no proof about Gandalf or Skywalker or anyone they may want to claim has spoken to them.
My faith is not in competition with anyone or anything. It serves me well and that is plenty good enough for me.

For those who hold to the "I believe in god, only I spell it N-A-T-U-R-E" axiom, that aspect of Animism can manifest in communicative ways. A sunrise, a waterfall, a rainbow or a shooting star can all be interpreted as things that were meant for/a gift to all of humanity. Or for a slightly more detailed version, the spirit of the forest may communicate by favoring the hunt, or via "omens" such as specific animals visiting an individual.
For those who are more in tune with animalism versus animism, they may see the bear god in a bear, or other similar signs of "communication."
The term itself, "communication" is such a nebulously defined term that in concert with a loosely defined (and optional) concept such as "god," it becomes an entirely unprovable statement. Anybody can see anything they wish to.

If by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties — someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal."

Very well stated.
Communication really only requires the intent on behalf of a sender to express information to a receiver.
I dislike animism because it requires this idea of intent to be present, and I dislike that idea when it comes to the only form of God I would be willing to accept.
It's the basic problem I have with Deism. My view of God is at odds with Deism on a fundamental level.
Between this and the spirituality thread, we happen to be on a kick right now about things I've spent a lot (perhaps too much) time thinking about.![]()

Ok, your first sentence sums up your answer to the question. In response to the rest of what you said...actually, forget it. I was going to respond, but it's taking the thread in another direction, and I don't want that to happen. You could've stopped after the first sentence. But thanks for your reply.
Well lets get right down to the meat and potatoes: Does anyone on this thread/board feel they have direct communication with God? And what i mean by "communication", is a one on one conversation.
Personally, I think God communicates with me by directing me into new paths of fulfillment and growth, and leading me away from the despair which is common to people in the twilight of life like myself.
Sometimes through dreams, sometimes through coincidences, sometimes just through my intuition.
Vic, you don't believe in Christianity, correct? I know you've said you're a Catholic, which would be christianity of course, but is that just a nominal thing?
