Like this one, showing how her ability ho have children was rotten. I don't need to know that she was rendered infertile to know that this is what that painting represents.
Yeah, I didn't know that but you really can't miss the meaning of that one!

There's a guy I saw at tate britain who created a whole city with really odd perspective (sort of almost surrealist). Can I remember his name? Can I fuck!

I'm a fan of Ray Caesar. The level of detail of his work is simply unreal.

    Those are very odd.

I'm also a big fan of Alex Grey. Absolutely spectacular work. A lot of it was based on his own hallucinations from LSD or DMT.

That is very cool. I like.

Here is one that I have hanging over my mantle that my husband copied, his version isn't quite as good but I love it . . .

    (Turner)

    I love all of Turner's with boats in it . . .

I have a thing for flowers and boats. But not together.
Gotta love Turner. Saw quite a few at tate britain. There's loads at Petworth House near where I live thast I intend to go and see at some point.

I love black n white pencil of battles at sea especially from the Viking era.

note: I woulda been perfectly content if it were the Vikings who had conquered and divided North America. (and they came close)

brilliant asian artists have taken over the modern art scene.
    Yue Minjun, china

    Yoshitomo Nara, japan:

ill stop now, if you want more, say so.
Interesting selection. What's the appeal to you of the hundertwasser pictures. Does nothing for me at a glance.

Love the Yue Minjun - so at odds with the classic perception of east asian culture.

    Can't stand damien hirst.

The level of detail in that is quite something.

Why pencils in particular and why sea battles?

Mark- Pencil because a pencil only cost $1 at most. Sea battles just because the history of conquers interests me.

Well seeing it like that does it NO justice whatsoever. Not that I have seen it in person but all of his paintings that I've gotten to see it seems they need to be seen at a distance to really appreciate. I have a print of this one and I'd say it is true of it too.

I guess the fact that I love Monet in general is the first reason. Even the ones I don't particularly like, still speak to me. Next, the other lily paintings that I have seen in person hold a special place in my heart--long story. Finally, I like the unfinished edges. It makes it feel like a dream instead of a scene. Also, I'm always captivated by reflections on water. It makes me want to just jump in and float and stare at the world around me. Those clouds on the water make it feel like the most perfect day ever.

I don't know silly reasons I guess. I also love willow trees. There was a willow tree in my friend's yard when I was growing up and I loved to dance in the branches. Everything about that painting makes me happy. Just the perfect combination of mood and color and content and lack of precision. Yep. Definitely my favorite painting. Plus it has flowers. I love flowers. Sigh.

There was a whole collection of them at Tate Britain. This one was the only one I could find online, although it is a good one.

There's nothing silly about that. If anything just your description has increased my appreciation of Monet, so thank you.

Those of you who dislike Picasso...all you'd have to do is see some of his sketches up close and in person. You'll be an instant fan. At least of his sketchwork.
