It is difficult for any decent person to sit back and not comment on the anti-Semitism,racism ,sexism ,and all-around ignorance espoused on the majority of DA's posts,it's fucking sad when one gets a warning for simply being a decent person.

I enjoy Hall and Oates and Anne Murray had a great voice ,so did Helen Reddy.

    Just messin' with ya dude.

Yea you can post good videos here.

But I guess I am trying to make a point about the 70s pop culture and how, um... vacant it was... Disco CB Radios, WIN Buttons, Saturday Night Live (in its heyday) Snuff Dipping, Country Western Bars, Mechanical Bulls, Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter, the Energy Crises, streaking, pot smoking, sports cars ... and so on.

Hey, has anyone posted Diana Ross on this thread? I don't feel like searching through all the pages right now.

i'm not sure if you're talking about anyone on this thread... i think most of us here are far from being kids.

Some of this I remember my mom listening to, when I was a kid.

Could be both. A lot of today's singers and musicians readily admit listening to their parents' and/or their grandparents' music, even citing it as influences.

    Consider Ganja Freebird, for instance.

    There's others such as viking31, though she's more of a 60s fan.

    Ah,I'm playing with you too.

    Again,what was the 70s?

I don't watch The 70s Show because by the time that show takes place I had moved on,then again, the 70s I come from were culturally the 60s (which is probably why some think I was draft age all during the Vieitnam War.

But I don't know if the culture was really any more or any less "decadent" than any other in history,I would argue that in some ways I prefer that culture (and it's music)to what we presently have.

In other ways ,I think we have improved.

I've been invovled with a radio station whose entire programming is singles and album tracks from 1955 to 1976.

Their ratings have shown that while most of the audience are baby boomers(which are people born form 1945 to 1964,those who 86 Dude feels are "bad people"),there are a lot of people in their teens and 20s who listen to it as well.

I would add there are a lot of people in their teens and 20s who don't listen to it either.

Still,a lot more young people are into it than boomers were into the music from their parents youth.

When I saw Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello on the same bill,two-thirds of the audience were boomers, but one-third were people in their teens and 20s,and that's more people in their teens and 20s then I've seen at any other show by most vetran artists (Neil Young being one notable exception).
