I read on those internets (so it must be true) that the Tremens tulip glass is the most stolen beer glass from bars in America.

I worked a long day yesterday and therefore did not get to drink any beer. I was in work at 6:00 AM and got home at 10:00 PM and went right to bed. Tonight I will make up for it.

For Christmas, my three year old niece got me a Duvel gift set: The tulip glass with four 330ml bottles of Duvel. Goddamn does a Duvel look nice sitting in a tulip glass. My four year old nephew got me an Ommegang gift set. It has three 750ml bottles: Chocolate Indulgence, Hennepin, Three Philosophers, plus a flute glass. Wife and I shared the Chocolate Indulgence this past Sunday. Not as sweet as American chocolate beers, and I am guessing it's because of the Belgian chocolate that is used (it's more bitter and not as sweet and American chocolates). In any case, I am amazed that my niece and nephew were able to walk into a liquor store and buy such gifts, seeing how they are so young. The store clerk must have been blind.

    NEW YEAR'S EVE BEER.

I have that 750ml bottle of Hennepin that won't make it past 6:00. I also have some DFH60, two bottles of Duvel, some Harpoon IPA, assorted Sam Adams, those two McNeill's bombers that I mentioned a few posts back, a Berkshire Brewing Company 22oz imperial stout, and a few other random bottles. I will no doubt be stopping on the way home tonight to buy some other stuff because you just never know what you'll be in the mood for.

    So, whatcha got for tonight?

I'm not surprised. it's an awesome glass. I'm a big fan of Ommegang beers. I could go for a 3 philosophers right now.

We've got some Tremens lined up, plus Dave picked up the Weyerbacher big beer case so I imagine there's some good stuff in there. Also, we're still working on that quad so yeah, it should be a good night.

on top of getting drunk on 95% of a bottle of korbel ive decided to have my cherry lambic, by the same people who made the peach lambic i had last week.

the taste is really good. its tart first off. i was expecting sweet like the peach but i was wrong. its tart but good, the tartness comes from the skin. it almost has that kind of tartness you get from an apple peel. i also taste a hint of wood, like oak. the finish is very dry IMO. a hint of sour, just a smidgen of a hint but its there and its good.

the nose is cherries with a hint of malt in there, its really good but smells nothing like a beer honestly.

the color of this is dark red, like a red wine. i cant see through it. carbonation is good but not as much as the peach. this is a sipping lambic IMO and like the peach lambic would be good with dessert, cheese cake OR chocolate cake for sure, possibly dark chocolate.

i poured this into a champagne flute. its really good and completely different from the peach lambic. i look forward to trying the raspberry apple and black currant lambics they have along with the gueuze.

i also picked up a 6er of leinenkugel's sunset wheat. i like the blueberry note it has in the smell and taste but tastes more like a lager since they use a lager yeast to ferment this brew.

i MAY try the bar harbor blueberry ale since i like blueberry or the bell's cherry stout since i love cherries and i have been looking forward to trying a stout out.

BTW like the peach lambic, the alcohol hides like a ninja, i cannot taste it. good stuff!

Well, Betty is back at home now. While he was here we went to bevmo and found something we couldn't pass up.....He'Brew: the Chosen Beer. We got a couple of each kind that they had there. We got their Origin Pomegranate Ale, Bittersweet Lenny's RIPA, and last but not least, Rejewvenator. I'm still going through them to see what I like best. Will Post more later.

I have to say, if you like your beers a bit on the sour side, the rejewvenator is pretty freakin awesome.

ok, so I killed off a couple jews this morning and I have made up my mind. The best is Bittersweet Lenny's RIPA and the Rejewvenator (the two tied IMHO) the Origin was Okay. I wasn't nearly as impressed by the origin as I was the rejewvenator and the RIPA.

So I was in Beer*Mart today and on the shopping list was a Duvel four pack. So I go to the Belgium section, and there is the Duvel four pack for $14.99. Sitting right next to it is the Duvel gift set for $15.99, which is the four pack plus a Duvel tulip glass. WTF? $1 more for the tulip glass?

    MINE.

I also picked up a Delirium Nocturnum, which I have yet to try.

    I like beer.
