Every day for alcohol (a man's gotta have a hobby) but only perhaps every couple of months for Space Cake (I can't smoke MJ - it makes me cough).

Having kids means leaving the weed behind. So it's now drinks on occasion.

I picked every day. Whether it's caffeine or nicotine or alcohol or pot, etc., etc., etc., it's pretty much every day.

I voted "Never" 'cause I figured 2 times a year or so is closer to Never than Occasionally.

I drink alcohol almost every day. Just last night I had two glasses of wine with dinner. The night before that, I had about five gin-and-tonics at the bar. Tuesday my date and I polished off a bottle of wine over sushi. Monday I had a beer with dinner. I don't think I drank Sunday. Saturday night I had beer at the bar. I didn't drink last Friday.

Wow, that's five out of seven for the last week. :D

And I'm a successful functioning adult. I'm proof that mind-altering substances don't affect your ability to cope with life. People whose lives are supposedly torn apart by drugs and alcohol are really just failing at life by their own poor decisions. The alcohol and drugs are just and excuse.

Well, there is the fact that some people are far more susceptible to addiction than others, but that doesn't necessarily excuse their behavior or justify limiting the behavior of anyone else.

I assume you're referring to alcohol and drugs.

I voted "often." While I have never tried drugs (not once), I love my beer and wine. I drink probably three days a week, three or four drinks each time. Beer is kind of a hobby of mine. I like to try different beers...styles, breweries, seasonals, etc.

Well, when you say that a person is more susceptible to addiction, what that really means is that they're more likely to get drunk or high and do dumb things. That's because they're dumb. Dumb people do dumb things. Alcohol just lowers your inhibitions. Like you said, it doesn't excuse their behavior.

No, there are people that are physically more suwceptible to addiction. Most addiction physicians will tell you it's a genetic trait.

Stupidity is a genetic trait, too. That still doesn't excuse it.

So I have a question. Is it more acceptable for people to use legal drugs such as alcohol or caffeine, prescribed medication, tobacco, sugar etc..etc...Than say pot or coke or other illegal substances?
I chose every day.Because I smoke ciggies and couldnt survive without my daily dose of caffeine.
I drink alcohol maybe once a year.I take pain meds weekly to help with headaches.
The reason I ask the question is people often act as if because they have never done an illegal drug they are somehow cleaner than those who have.
To me drugs are drugs regardless of their legality.
Your thoughts?

nah... kids wouldnt make me quit (unless I was pregnate but I cant get preg so that's not a problem...) it just makes it into a secret... ya dont want yer kids to rat you out

but on the other hand having an amazing job that may or may not drug test you at any moment will...or at least that's why I quit smokin :) I love my job way too much... but without the job Imma pretty loyal smoker ha ha ha ha

anyway I drink everyday so I said accordingly

I have NEVER partaken of an illegal substance in my entire 44 year-old life. Not once, not ever.

As to alcohol, I have been dunk but probably only as many times as I can counting using the fingers of two hands. And, it's been over a decade or more since the last time.

I have no interest in being high. It has no appeal for me and I find people who do it often are mostly just losers or people with severe emotional problems.

Now, I do drink sometimes, but always with food. And almost never more than two at a sitting.
Never straight stuff, tho. Only mixed drinks, wine, or beer.

I answered 'never.'

I stopped drinking about 3 years ago, I never was a drug user (other than trying a couple things, ages ago)

So unless you count caffeine, I don't partake in any mind altering substances.

and i love it this way! :)

And I'm a smoker not a drinker :nice:
