I'm sure several of us have had this problem.

What do you get for the person you know (normally a relative) who has everything. or at least anything they'd actually want & use?

My family always had this problem with my grandparents, & now it's getting to be the same thing with my parents too. God only knows how many years my grandparents got stuck with golf balls & Hickory Farms for presents. :| I pride myself on being creative & original anyway, so I want to avoid THAT mess

*grumble* Not that they don't deserve it after copping an attitude about the PC my brother & I built them last year.

That drama aside, what do the rest of you do for hard to shop for people on your lists? Gidt cards aren't an option either, as they're seen as impersonal & a lack of effort at finding a gift.

I like Hickory Farms.

Last year I didn't get any Hickory Farms. :( I had to use my Christmas money to buy some. :)

Gift Certificates to Dine & See movies... Night out type of things... Some people dont want more crap for their places, they want experiences...year passes to amusement parks and zoos are good choices aswell.

My standard gift for the person who has everything? A Galileo thermometer.

They have wine degustation weekends here. Or doing pottery/driving a Porche/etc. Or 45' of massage in a spa. If it's too expensive, go for something decorative, or a nice book, or tickets for a concert - classical music, ballet, tango, theatre...

It all depends of how much $$ you're willing to spend.

I just came across a great way to get a gift for the person on my list who has everything.

Go to the worldvision website and you can buy all sorts of gifts to be given to less fortunate people in the third world in the name of the person you're having a hard time getting a gift for.

Did that make sense?

Anyway, my mom gave a family in Africa a sheep to help sustain them with milk, wool and fertilizer.

I know she'll love it. :nice:

a suggestion made on an irish tv programme yesterday was a year long subscription to a magazine

or like colonel said, make a charitble donation in their name (to paraphrase)

or forge a donation slip from a charity and pretend you made that one like george in seinfeld with the human fund
