I can't either. Want to hit up beverly center with me and we'll get our pics taken with santa?

I'm having a hard time this year. But I usually spend time in November window shopping & letting ideas come.

I'm thinking that this year, simplicity is best. Home-baked goodies & fuzzy socks all around. It shouldn't hurt to give.

I think I am going cash or the like, this year. :shrugs:

I didn't know until now that you didn't like shopping, but I could have guessed :)

I decided not to give anyone shit this year. It's alarmingly messy & smelly. And they overcharge....

I like giving gifts for christmas but I hate shopping and battling the vultures in the mall.

It's free if you do it yourself. Just ask Borat.

Maybe I'll give them a card this year. Nah!

I'll crawl, scrap, and fight my way through the crowd to get my gifts.

I have, but shit makes a really bad gift.

I don't mind shopping. What I hate is coming up with ideas. I need to buy gifts for my staff...9 women ranging from 34 to 65. I have no idea what to buy them.

Actually, yeah. Not me: my best friend did once. It turned out to be kind of sad, because we had got him presents...

I like Christmas. I think its great to give stuff to people: it is only the commercial aspect that sometimes gets to me. I found myself thinking my friend could have given us something... anything really... that would have made the whole Christmas exchange fun...

Really, next year, let me do it all for you. I'm really good at this. And you can sit back and take all the credit. And I am a master at matching the perfect gift with that, "hard to buy for", person.

I've already bought presents for half of people I care for. Which leaves my bf and his family... and... I also dread shopping, which is why I visit a lot of sites online and when I decide, I go directly for what I want. I've realised it saves me a lot of time and it's a lot less stressing than haunting the shops aimlessly!

:)

i've never liked shopping. doesn't matter what time of year it is, just something i've never enjoyed, for quite a few reasons, but mainly the consumerism aspect of it.

the only type of shopping i really enjoy is used book shopping. i could be in a used bookshop for hours and never realize it. :)

When I'm shopping books, I'm like in a trance, lol!!! There's nothing quite like it, not even shopping for lingerie!

I went to walmart the other night shopping, I understand what hell is like now. I did piss a few people off though, which was fun ... I try not to stop my cart in the isle way wheather its blocked or not .... ramming peoples' cart who have it stopped in a place that's blocking traffic..... ramming it hard as hell ... one lady looked like I just drop-kicked her dog or something .... but, all you have to do is smile and say .... "excuse me" or "merry christmas" or something.... don't even stop walking ... just smile and say it :nice: it turns shopping into fun! ... I can only do that while i'm shopping alone, my GF gets pissed and ruins it for me if she sees me doing it, she yells "Mikey" (like your scolding a little kid)... its hard for me to smile and say "merry christmas" with a straight face after that. :(

OMG, now every time I see your screen name, I'm gonna think, "give it to Mikey; he'll eat anything". :D

Am I the only one who's old enough to remember that old Life cereal commercial?

My bf and I decided to have a Christmass week - cook delicious meals all week and start decorating our appartment. So we went shopping today at a huge mall outside Paris (Val d'Europe) and it was full !! We did quite well, made our list in advance and everything turned out just great. Came back home, put on the electric lights and some ornaments - still haven't bought a tree though- anyway, it's great, the Christmass spirit is right here, at last !!! And I love it :).

lol, my Mom loves Chicos.

I hate shopping at any time of the year, unlike most females. But this year I find myself wishing I was out there in the mayhem, but this is the first year I am not buying any gifts except for my niece and nephew. I am making pies though - apple-cranberry. I made one tonight before work as a tester ( gotta have the tester pie...) and it turned out good so I am making one for both my parents, and my sister.

That is what I would have guessed. I'm the same way.

I can enjoy shopping when I'm getting something for a precise, real purpose: then its fun because its part of the process of something fun that I've decided to do... But I could never, NEVER, just decide to buy stuff for the sake of buying stuff.
Books :( There is this yearning in me for life to just return to the way it was for me when I was younger, with plenty of time to soak up all the fantastic books there are out there. Maybe I need to design a holiday PURELY for reading :) And used book shopping, of course...

Shopping done a few days ago, wasn't so bad.

I wonder how many people shop for gifts at the very last minute?

yeah, me, an outspoken christmas hater.

you know what really puts me in a bad mood is this:

You stroll the mall, you see something you want. you buy it. I mean the shops are full this time of year. you find many desirable things without much effort. but in my experience only things you desire yourself.
now there are two options:

- first, virtuous way: you refrain from buying anything for yourself, hoping someone will give it to you. that never worked for me. after christmas is over, you hit the mall, wishing to get the stuff nobody gave you.
useless, it's gone. somebody else bought it. it's sold out. can't be reordererd.
so you go without your desired goods.

- second option: you stroll the mall, see something you like. you buy it. maybe twice, to give one item to someone else as a gift. but afterwards are in doubt if that person really will like it. and most times you are right about that.
so you buy just what you like. your own gifts nobody else will give you so to speak.
you come home laden with shopping bags. and feeling like a shit. thats why i hate christmas so much.
and decided to spare me that stress. i will give nobody shit. and wish we could skip that damn festival of uselessness.

anyone here to join in my rant?
