The Rapture aren't new music for me recently, I probably found them three years ago, but in the scheme of my musical tastes they are relatively new, and very different. The Presets were new but they fall mostly inline with The Rapture's style.
I found myself at the Music Box this Monday enjoying some great electronica/dance/rock music and I could help but literally laugh outloud as I was dancing and pumping a fist in the air...five years ago if I heard this music I probably would have run out screaming thinking it was crap. Maybe not 5, but definatley 6 or 7.
Its funny how musical tastes evolve. Maybe they don't even evolve but they grow and they get additions and tweaks. I still like most of the music I liked back then, even if for nothing else other than nostalgia, but I like so many different types of music now. I like Bossa Nova, Jazz, Hip Hop, Dance/Electronica, Synth, Dub, just this huge spectrum of music from Thievery Corporation to Massive Attack to The Rapture to Mo'Horizons to NERD that just 5 or 6 years ago I would have hated.
I love exploring new music. I love discovering and being shown new music. I love expanding my musical horizons and boundries...
The show was LOUD but it was a lot of fun. I had never really been to a dance/electronica show in such a small venue. The energy in the crowd was just intense. Definately wish they came around more often, but I will just have to try and catch Radio 4 when they are around next to get my fix.
