Do you think that myspace will kill off band's having their own websites?

i see in the next year or so the only purpose a band's own website will serve for most bands is that it'll redirect the browser to myspace

that's what i feel

anyone else with an opinion?

note: this is not the topic to post myspace reccomendations. such reccomendations i feel would be spam

No. There's a ton of shit that most bands have on their sites that aren't on myspace.

most bands and dj's i know about have both a personal/official site and a myspace page.

bandwith for songs is an issue too. Plus, i want people to come to my home site, not just my myspace page....

myspace only lets you have 4 songs, so.... I just use it for advertising, and to get people to click my soundclick page link.

I don't see it, in its current iteratin, at all stopping bands websites. I see bands websites becoming 'more like myspace' with bigger community elements, more interactivity and so forth.

bands/artists sites are DEFINITELY moving that direction. I look at peeps who have started out as blogs, then got a straight up website but keep a format similiar to a blog in terms of updating and including a friends/links list on the main page....Pretty cool the way it's evolving.....
