wow-- so i took my first musical theater class today at UCLA--- I had no idea what to expect-- I wasnt sure how many people tried out to be in it or how many were accepted... and right when i walked in the building, i seriously was so freaked out i wanted to go back to the lot i had just payed 6 bucks to park in and go home...

but anyhoo-- i went to class and there were only 7 people-- including me-- actually one more was on the list, but didnt show up... the other girls there said there were a lot of others at the auditions who musts not have made it... it will be good to work in such a small class.. more one on one help

we all had to do one of our audition songs for the class--I did my upbeat number "ill never fall in love again."

i sucked... okay, i was "fair"... i rocked at my audition though...
of course, i was all nervous when i went up today, because while we were warming up, the teacher picked on me soooo much... he picked on the others a little, but mostly me...how embarassing... im just going to have to force myself not to be "thin-skinned" for this class... because it will only get worse... LOL
no really, hopefully it will be okay- but i just have total technique issues and he says I am a "tongue thruster' and i dont even know what that is...

but i think it may be related to the speech problem i had when i was a wee one.. i used to have a lisp and some other little issues but i took speech therapy in 4th and 5th grade and the beginning of 6th and they decided I could talk ssssswell. but honestly, i think they messed me up.. i got rid of the lisp, but i dont think i was taught perfectly correctly.. and that is probably coming out in my singing.. bummer.

soooo--- i am apprehensive, but i will be working with someone -- free voice lessons, yay.. and she took this dudes class so she knows what he likes... cool - eventually i will probably have to work with someone who is like a "name" in the business.. who auditioners would have heard of or something, but for now.. this'll do

and next week there is no class so i have twice as long to work on the number he gave me to learn..

"A Change in Me" from Beauty and the Beast-- but it is a new number-- so it is only on one album in the world-- the new Susan Egan CD.. not even on a recording of Beauty and the Beast--- so now im workin with my recorded tape of the piano guy playing this song for me-- it is soooo pretty, i am going to need a lot of help to do it justice...
