can anyone recommend a device to connect my Canon MP500 to my wireless network? Right now, I have it connected to an older laptop, and sharing it via XP. I don't really like leaving this laptop on 24/7 and I have someone wanting to buy it.

I've looked at a dlink http://www.dlink.com/products/?sec=0&pid=482 and it seems like what I want, but from reading some reviews, most people couldn't scan over the network. As of now, I scan stuff to the laptop, then the folder it defaults the jpg to is shared. I'm worried if I get this devices, I won't be able to scan at all.

I would love just to hook it up to the desktop, but in our apt, there's a tiny desk area built into a wall, and there just isn't any room for this big ol' printer :(

I've setup a linksys wifi print server, worked like a champ... not sure about the scanning though, it was a multifunction HP printer, but the dude was only interested in printing via wifi, and faxing via walking over and faxing from it. :) set it up 6 months ago, still working now.

HP 3380, Linksys WPS54GU2 ... and now that I really think about it :) ... it may take quite a bit of finagling to get the scanning to work via wireless... it'll kinda depend on the manufacturers' (the printer manufacturer) software. … in fact, I’d probably call canon or check their online docs to see if it’ll work. … the printing will work, just not sure about the scanning.
