Yesterday I was walking with some coworkers to lunch. Realizing I have only 6 bucks in cash in my pocket, I decide to swing by the ATM. I am going about my merry business, getting 200 bucks out, when the machine powers down. No beeps. No flicker on the screen. No buzzing or whirring behind the scenes. I stop for a moment, unsure what to do. The machine has my card. It has my cash. And it isn't part of a branch.
A few coworkers come over, we start devising a plot to retrieve said money and card when the machien turns back on, starts making sounds, and then says 'out of service.'
We continue to lunch and then I call BofA to cancel the card, get a replacement, and make sure the transaction didn't go through. It did. I know must dispute a 200 dollar ATM withdrawl. Luckily the woman said it is just a formality, I sign a form certifying what I am saying is true and since I've never made a claim and have been a member for like 15 years, its not a problem. But, I have no cash. No ATM card. And, for the time being, am out 200 bucks.
