The federal Drug Enforcement Agency is warning about so-called "Greenades," which are marijuana-containing gumballs.

The DEA is issuing an intelligence bulletin about the pot candies to police departments across the country. The smiley face gumballs were first discovered at a Howard County, Md., high school in January.

Police charged three 17-year-old students after a teacher alerted a school resource officer. She told the officer that she saw a student give a plastic bag that the teacher believed contained drugs to another student.

The officer seized the bag, which contained two "candy balls," police said. The gumballs came wrapped in colorful tin foil labeled as "Greenades" with a marijuana leaf on the wrapper and detailed instructions for use. Instructions on the foil told users to chew for 30 minutes to 1 hour "before you would like receive your high" and to "chew for as long as possible, then swallow."

Officers charged two students with distribution of drugs on school property and a third with possession of marijuana.

Each gumball contained approximately one gram of marijuana, and the total net mass of the two gumballs was 17.5 grams.

If a toddler were to ingest the amount of THC, the active chemical in marijuana, in one gram of high grade marijuana it could produce harmful effects, according to PRWeb.

Why go through all the trouble. I can't imagine eating pot and gum at the same time. I tried that with popcorn when I was 5 and that was enough.

Wow, kids are amazing. If I could have thought of that when I was in high school, I would be rich. Pretty cool idea, but I agree that eating wouldn't do much. But children are gullible and they will buy. Wonder what they charged per gum-ball? :)

the thing with eating it you have to have alot of weed to do it. I can't imagine squeezing the amount to get high in a tiny gumball. waste of weed in my opinion its only a body high that eventually makes you pass out.

im not sure if your being sarcastic or what. But there are people who think people talk like this after getting high. I must admit I go a little out there with the questions of life and the universe meaning of it all.

1 gram of weed is actually quite a lot. here they sell bags of 0.7 - 0.8 grams which will give you 4 or 5 big joints. we have weed popstickles too. and cake and gumballs and chocolat etc. :) only sold in coffee/ smart shops to all above 16. its a pretty stupid idea to give this to kids though.

I think you mean 7 to 8 grams, which is about equal to a quarter ounce would be sufficient for 4 or 5 big joints.

I do smoke very little, and a big smoker can still get 3 or 4 good joints out of it. if iyou put the whole top in one joint, youre passed out, no question.

Lots of people roll joints the diameter of a cigarette and use pipes of all sizes. Many smoke 7 or 8 grams per week. I suspect the quality is lower than dutch.

Yes it is for what you guys somke in Nederlands. You guys get that seedless stuff. Here in America its not as good unlesss you really shop around.

yea our weed is breeded over the top.. its not only nice, actually. most people feel its too strong. I really have had to search out that one coffeshop that has more relaxed weed. its allmost like wanting a beer and then they only have wodka...
