View Full Version : It's back.
86Dude 07-16-2006, 01:58 AM 3 years ago I had an experience in my former house. A circular light switch turned itself off and then back on. I saw this first person. I was awestruck. This single event was the most life altering moment of my entire existence. It changed my opinion on God etc., in an instant.
This morning I saw something similiar in my new house. The swtich on my box fan whcih I leave running 24/7 in the bedroom turned itself off, and then on. Normally, I leave this fan on the hightest setting. I was sleeping in today, and about 9:30 the fan turned itself off as I was lying there fully concious in my bed contemplating getting my lazy ass out of bed. My Yorkie sleeps with me, he barked when the fan turned off. I thought it was a brown out as it came back on a few seconds later, except the fan was now on the lowest setting on the dial. Somehow, the fan turned itself off, and then back on to the lowest setting. I'm not making this up people. I tried for 1 hour to recreate the scenario. My first thought was that the fan switch was between 2 settings and slipped back, but I could not recreate this. The box fan turned itself off, then on but, not back to the highest setting, rather the lowest. The decreased sound of the fan was what piqued my interest more than anything, and as I examined it chills ran down the ole spine Try as I could I could not make that switch stick and fall back. This is EXACTLY what I experieced 3 years ago, but instead of a circular dimmer switch it was circular 3 speed fan. Something is following me, but i don't fear it.
Betrade 07-16-2006, 09:03 AM I was tapped on the shoulder 6 or 7 times by some type of entity about ten or 11 years ago ( which was one of the most unsettling things I have ever experienced; frankly, it scared the livingh sh1t out of me and I left immediately). I have also had similiar experiences as you have with electrical appliances.
My friends insisted that the taps were muscle spasms in my shoulder, but I know that it wasn't. It's never happened before or since. It was unmistakabley a few hard taps, and no one will ever convince me otherwise.
I also had a radio not only turn itself on, but it had been moved to the center of the bed from the floor, face up, and the volume was up to full blast. It just happened out of the blue. I was downstairs in the kitchen, and no one was anywhere near the room.
I also had a wall decoration that would throw itself off of the wall. It didn't just fall, it would always land about 5-10 feet away from it's place. I tried to recreate it, so I could debunk it, but it was impossible.
I don't know who or what these things are, and I know that almost no one believes these types of stories when you tell them, but I know what I've experienced, and no one will convince me otherwise.
I don't know how you feel about your experience, but if it's not malevolent, there's probably nothing to fear.
Personally, I like the idea of ghosts, but in a way, I feeel sorry for them if they're earthbound spirits looking for attention.
I would try to get some EVP's (electronic voice phenomena) if I were you. Just get a tape recorder and ask the entity to say a few syllables and see if you get anything. Let it run all the way through and listen very carefully. Do it when you have little or no backround noise. You may be surprised at what you may find.
I would also look into the history of the house and the area, and see if anyone died there in the past. In my house, there was a young girl who died during childbirth back in the fifties, and I couldn't help but think that she was still there trying to get some attention, or possibly look for her baby. I've heard that tragic, sudden or violent deaths often lead to hauntings.
I believe that these things happen quite frequently, but many people tend to keep quiet out of fear of being ridiculled, or fear that they may just be crazy.
I hope your entity continues to try and contact you. It's cool having a ghostly visitor around. I always liked to think that whatever it was was looking out for my kids.
There are so many thousands of documented cases, that I find it impossible to not believe. Not all of us can be liars (although I have no doubt that some are), and the average person wouldn't tell the story if they knew that they wouldn't be believed. That especially applies if they have nothing to gain but ridicule.
I like that show on Sci Fi called Ghosthunters. They've caught some pretty amazing videos and EVP's. Check out their website because lots of them are on there. It's all really fascinating.
Keylia 07-16-2006, 09:11 AM Some creepy stuff has happened to me but I always just assume it's some fluke or that I'm crazy, and there's the 3rd possiblity that some living person is just yanking chain. I've been tricked too many times to but into it right away but I'd like to be proven wrong in a way. I sometimes go to supposedly haunted places for Halloween eventhough I don't expect to see anything. It's a thrill when something does happen but it's a lot like a magic show, you are pretty darn sure it isn't magic but you just can't figure it out.

Either your fan underwent a momentary power interruption/dimming independent of the switch, or your companion spirit chills easily.
Check the wiring from the unit back to the breaker, looking for shorts, and even replace that particular breaker. And you should go ahead and leave a sweater out for the ghost.

Yeah, I thought of that but here's the thing: During the first incident I saw the knob turn itself counter clockwise and heard it click OFF. The same with this. The knob turned counter clockwise to the off position and then to the second position from High, to off, to medium. A brown out could have explained the symptom, but the knob physically moved. In both cases I was alone and awake, trying to sleep. In both cases the knob, which is only a resistor like a vehicle headlight switch has physically moved itself. I cannot debunk or explain this.
I know it sounds insane.
Mystlet 07-16-2006, 06:47 PM I hear my Dad's voice saying my name since he died. Science can't explain it & I know I'm not hallucinating. The world is full of things we can't explain...yet.

You're not insane. You'll probably also experience smells.
twinkles 07-29-2006, 07:30 PM I don't mean to talk down on you, but well, before jumping to conclusions, given that you're so convinced by it... ever tried seeing a doc? Feeling you're being followed could be a sympton of a disorder of some sort, maybe of physical order.
Have it checked, it could be serious.

Actually, I have seen doctors & psychiatrists...and no, it's not any kind of hallucinatory disorder.
How can he have a mental illness? It's not like he's hearing voices in his head telling him to kill someone, or like he's thinking he sees things. The switch was actually altered from the time it went from on to off to on again. THere's no possible way he could be considered crazy when he has tangible evidence that something funny was going on.

Take it or leave it, I know what I saw, and this kind of thing is not uncommon at all. Experiences like Mysts for example are VERY, VERY common eventhough events that are mistaken for the supernatural are even more common. Obviously, one doesn't jump to conclusions especially someone like myself who doesn't fear the supernatural. I won't mistake an orb for on a digital camera or that kind of nonsense for paranormal evidence.
Mystlet 07-30-2006, 12:24 AM This is one of those few occasions where I totally agree with 86Dude. Sometimes shit happens we can't explain. It doesn't mean someone is crazy.
200 years ago we'd just blame god/demon/satan/angels for the weird occurances.
twinkles 07-30-2006, 02:10 PM I totally agree that memories are or can be associated with smells, maybe images. However, what 86Dude is experiencing is much much more serious (or at least it sounds that way). Would be the manifestation of the start of a psychosis of some sort.
Here's a fragment of what I've found for you and the link:
"Psychosis can lead to changes in mood and thought processing resulting in someone having unusual ideas. A person may appear to have some loss of contact with reality e.g. seeing or hearing things that other cannot.
Psychosis can have an influence on the following:
Cognition - thinking processes, logical progression of thoughts, ideas and memories e.g. thinking that you are being followed."

All this to conclude that, yes, I believe you. I believ you are telling the truth, I believe that you are convinved that you are being followed. What I doubt is the way you percieve reality. Your choice, take it or leave it. Maybe it makes you feel special. Take care of yourself.
86Dude 07-30-2006, 02:16 PM ugggg.
twinkles 07-30-2006, 02:31 PM I don't think I understand what you mean :D.
