Von Apfelstrudel 06-28-2006, 04:40 PM si senor! kewl... igofast 06-28-2006, 04:50 PM kewl... It should be pretty interesting. Directed by Richard Linklater, they shot the film and then animated over every frame, so it's a live-action animated film. :) oki 06-30-2006, 06:04 PM looks cool... Battletoad 07-06-2006, 03:56 AM waking life was done the same way right? Duh! Some insurance company has been using that form of animation for their commericals too. I look forward to it. Not necessarily because of Waking Life which I didn't mind as much as I thought because Linklater explicitly made it known he was aiming for nothing but the height of pretentiousness, but yea. igofast 07-06-2006, 12:04 PM waking life was done the same way right? Yes. As battletoad implied, same director. Miss Misery 07-06-2006, 02:19 PM Yes. As battletoad implied, same director. yea thanks. like i said, i was pretty sedated when i watched that one, i was so sick. i thought i was making shit up in my head when i first saw it. Battletoad 07-07-2006, 02:12 AM like i said, i was pretty sedated when i watched that one, i was so sick. i thought i was making shit up in my head when i first saw it. Don't feel too bad. You were part of the intended audience... From the notes of one critic: When he introduced the film at its Sundance 2001 premiere, Linklater posed one question to the audience, and it goes a long way towards setting the stage for Waking Life. "How many of you out there are on drugs?" he asked. When a number of hands went up, he added, "Good. This is for you. The rest of you, just bear with me." I still think "Tape" has been Linklater's best work thus far. Battletoad 07-12-2006, 06:13 PM So has anyone seen this yet? Monster 07-12-2006, 06:28 PM Still trying to find somebody who wants to go with me. TheNatural 07-13-2006, 09:52 AM yeah, i definitely want to read the book prior to seeing the film. but anything with Robert downey Jr i definitely look forward to seeing. Dr.Doom 07-13-2006, 06:18 PM Scannersi is a old film 1981 David Cronenberg film. About people who posses ESP ability due to some side effect from a drug given in the 40's to help for pain in pregnant women. They can make your head explode with their own thoughts. It a pretty interesting sci fi film. Pappy&Me 07-13-2006, 06:26 PM Scannersi is a old film 1981 David Cronenberg film. It's a bit depressing, but it was very well done I thought. Manu 07-17-2006, 03:08 AM The technique is called rotoscoping, it was developed at MIT and is used in a bunch of stuff. They've really refined the technique compared to how it was when he made Waking Life. I thought the movie was pretty solid. mostly true to the book, whiich I enjoyed compared to most of the adaptations of Philip K. Dick's works. linklatter is a big Dick fan, so it makes sense and he did the screen play. The movie was good, a bit less philosophical than the book, a bit dumbed down, especially the closing of the movie, not left quite as open as Dick did, but work seeing. Battletoad 07-27-2006, 05:43 AM linklatter is a big Dick fan *Insert stupid, juvenile joke here* The movie was good, but there were moments when the visuals became the only thing maintaining my attention. My advice: go watch Tape to see what this guy is really capable of. blisterinthesun 07-27-2006, 11:59 AM i tried to see this at my local theater... and there were no showings... do i need to find an art house near me? Betty 10-15-2006, 08:15 PM I just saw it. I really wouldn't all it wierd perse, because it's wierdness makes a lot of sense in the end. Messed up ending, but not entirely. At the same time you want to say, "well that was clever". I wonder what happens after. It clues you in, but you really want to see it for yourself. Pappy&Me 10-16-2006, 12:05 PM I just saw it. Betty 10-16-2006, 05:34 PM I was able to get one of those free copies :| medlar 10-16-2006, 09:34 PM So I guess Keanu is in movies that question reality. The novels about an addictive drug taking over the world and a burnt out undercover detective?..its got my interest. Rotoscoping as in Sin City style or animation over live..that could get a bit hard to focus on though. |
