A 5-year-old boy in Broward County, Fla., preparing to enter kindergarten, is believed by gender-identity experts to be the youngest kid in the country whose family supports his decision to live completely as the other sex (according to a May profile in New Times Broward-Palm Beach). The parents doubt that the unnamed now-girl (dubbed "Nicole Anderson" in the article) is "just going through a phase," because of "her" early, constant, and insistent female preferences and comments, e.g., "I want the fairy princess to come and make my penis into a vagina." ?
Most kids don't even know the biological difference between boys and girls at age 5. :hmm:
That's just... strange.
I really don't think it's wrong for the kid to like girly stuff or anything but it seems to me that the parents probably put a lot of pressure on this issue with the kid even though they say that they're just letting him choose. Why would else would he feel so strongly about wanting to be a girl? (or so strongly about not wanting to be a boy?)

I totally agree. The parents are probably doing something to cause this IMO.

When I was 5 I didn't know what a vagina was. I just knew I had a weenie and girls didn't.

Really? Damn, y'all had some weird childhoods...
Are you sure you're not looking at the past through rose-colored glasses? I've found that adults tend to have no recollection of what life was like as a kid. They act like kids are uncontrollable sponges, blamelessly soaking up and mimicking whatever their influences tell them to. They forget how much conscious thought runs through a kid's head daily.
I totally knew what a vagina was.

Definately. When i was a child i dont remember a time when i didnt know what one was. I think you start noticing the differences at age 3?

I'm inclined to agree. Something definitely sounds wrong here.

cps should step in.
Ha. Be careful what you wish for. They might step in and determine that the parents have abused this 5 year old by not immediately starting hormone therapy, and getting his tallywacker lobbed off.

If the boy part is a tallywacker does that mean that girls have tallies?

Really though when your young you go through phases. I dotn care what the parents say please wait until the child is 18 and then decide. Im not surprised if i hear of this kid again except with a different headline.... "Kid bombs school this is worse than columbine"
