I finally wnet to see the film United 93,about the airplane that was hijacked and supposed to hit the Capitol on 9-11-01 but many of the passengers fought back and naerly regaiend control of the airplane.
I was hesitant to see the film,I even felt my stomache tighten each step closer to the cinema I saw it at,but I felt I still had to see it.
It is a film that can't be compaired good or abd to any other film.
It is done in real time, has no name actors in it ,in fact some of the people in itaren't actors but are people reinacting what they actually did on 9/11 [especially the actual air traffic controllers].
The flim is as accuarate as any film about this can be [using dialogue from that actual cockpit tapes] and has no political agenda whatsoever and is a film that in fact is impartial on every level,it really shows you the facts in a non-partisan way and lets you judge for yourself.
The film has had resounding reviews and mixed box offcie,i've read that in various screenings the cinemas were half-empty and there was total silecne during the entire film, the same was true for the showing I attended.
The sad thing about this was the if the passengers had onlya few seconds more, they very liekley would have taken the plane back,it also shows that the second plane that went into the World Trade Center would have crashed in mid air with a Delta flight if nor for the air traffic controllers involved, then again,if those two planes crashed many fewer lives would have been lost on 9/11 too.
Director Paul Greengrass deserves every award he's going to get for this film.
