I wanted to pass on a song that I think is a beautiful tribute to our soldiers in Iraq. It's called Home.

It's on the new album by Live, called Songs From Black Mountain. This track gave me goosebumps. I don't have anyone close to me fighting in this war, but this song is for all Americans to hear.

Here's a link so you can hear a sample - http://music.allofmp3.com/r2/Live/Songs_From_Black_Mountain/group_7143/album_9/song_9/albref_13

Live's song 'Overcome' was used a lot in the early days after 9-11. It was eerie because the song was so fitting, but it had already been written. His lyrics can be so poignant at times. Here are the lyrics to 'Home'

"Home"

I'm a soldier on the field
Fighting for you, fighting for me
You can see it on our faces
Like the bullets leave traces
You can feel it for real

You can't imagine the pain of my baby so far away
So far from my home...

When they comin' home?
When they leavin' that place?
To see their lovers face again
Kid will see his daddy's face again
When they comin' home?

Oh shed some grace!
To see their lovers face again
Kid will see his daddy's face again

I'm a soldier on the field
Waiting to die, praying to live
To survive one more day
But my hope begins to fray
It's my flesh against the steel

You'll never know what I've known
You'll never see what I've seen
I hope we make it home...

When they comin' home?
When they leavin' that place?
To see their lovers face again
Kid will see his daddy's face again
When they comin' home?

Oh shed some grace!
Put your peace in the valley tonight
Bring the soldier home alright
When they coming' home?

Oh, when they leavin' that place?
To see their lovers face again
Kid will see his daddy's face again

So far from home
She cries, politics aside
What I'd give to have him here tonight

When they comin' home?
When they leavin' that place?
To see their lovers face again
Kid will see his daddy's face again
When they comin' home?

Oh shed some grace!
Put your peace in the valley tonight
Bring the soldier home alright
When they coming' home?

Oh, children playing in the sun?
To see their lovers face again
Kid will see his daddy's face again
When they comin' home?

Oh, ?
Put your peace in the valley tonight
Bring the soldier home alright
When they coming' home?

Oh, children playing in the sun?
To see their lovers face again
Kid will see his daddy's face again
When they comin' home?

Oh, ?
When they coming' home?

I love Live, and this song. I read somewhere that they might be including Chris Daughtry in their video for Mystery but never followed up on what happened. I thought that would've been an interesting move. Do you know if it's true?

Sois this song saying 'keep them out there to die' or 'bring them home?'

I've always felt the sentiment was bring them home. Ya know, all that stuff about "when they comin' home" :)

Fair enough it just seems that 'supporting the troops' is the preserve of the pro-war lobby ith you people.

Plus fighting for you fighting for me seems a bit strangely out of place

I am not sure if they cut a video or not - but if you go to www.fansoflive.com you can get a great studio version download of Chris with them on Mystery :nice:

It's always good to meet another Live fan. Just got my ticket for 7-30 :w00t:

I think some of the lyrics are supposed to be sung from the soldier's perspective.

Hope that helps :)
