remember with the Raman Noodles, there's two servings per pkg, so if you eat it both servings, that's 380. :)

Ahh, my bad. Thanks for pointing that out. :nice:

Okay, today...

Breakfast: Nothing (I wasn't hungry :hmm:)
Lunch: A small handful of blueberries (unknown amount of calories)
Snack/desert: Klondike Bar (250 calories)
Drinks (aside from water): Berries and Cream Dr.Pepper (140 calories)
Planning on for Dinner: 1 rib with KC Masterpiece (sauce has 60 calories, not sure about the rib itself).

I wouldn't have eaten a Klondike Bar AND had a Dr.Pepper, but my friend wouldn't stop tempting me. I wanted to slap her. :P :p

Spaz, your diet is basically devoid of nutrients.

I'd like to add that yesterday I went for a ten minute walk (mostly uphill). Not much, but...

Spaz, your diet is basically devoid of nutrients.
Yogurt, fruit, cereal, and a little meat....and my mom just got some salad mix from the store. What's missing?

For today...

Breakfast: 2 servings of Cinnamon Toast Crunch (350 calories)
Lunch: 1 1/2 cup of grapes (90 calories), 1 cup of yogurt (140 calories)
Snack: Two small squares of watermelon (they fit in the palm of my hand) and three strawberries( unknown amount of calories)
Dinner: Ramen Noodles (380 calories)

We have Luigi's as well--in cherry, strawberry and lemon. Lemon is the one I like best. :nice: :)

dude, you're going to die.

seriously, you are basically starving your body. :) you won't lose weight this way. cut out the klondike and dr. pepper and eat balanced and healthy meals. increase your exercise to include cardio and you will lose weight and be healthy.

:)

I'm with the majority here. You need more nutrients in your diet.

Cut the Ramen noodles, too. They're too much sodium for your diet. Hell, they're too much sodium for most peoples' diets.

I still don't quite understand. What food group is missing? I have fruit, dairy, cereal/bread, vegitables (I'm going to have a salad with/for dinner tonight)....I don't like meat, so I only eat a little bit of that. What do I need to add?

also, try making your own salads instead of the prepackaged ones. :) it's cheaper and doesn't have preservatives included in the packaging to maintain freshness. you can get creative and create an entire meal out of a salad.

i like to include sunflower seeds, raisins, sliced apples, possibly chicken,.. you get the idea. :)

those are all ingredients needed for one healthy meal. :) not one day's intake.

i'm not trying to be rude or anything, honestly. i sometimes sound that way, but honestly, i'm not trying to be. i just become concerned when i hear a teenager name out her diet and she's basically starving herself (starving can happen even if eating loads of food.. if that food does not contain the necessary vitamins and minerals needed for a balanced diet).

there are loads of websites dedicated to eating healthy and losing weight. :)

eat well, etc. :) <3

I think young girls get too caught up with their diets. I have sen my own sister go on abou how fat she is and she is as thin as a stick. Eat what you want just in moderation.

I don't know anyone who can fit all of that into one meal. :p

I didn't think you sounded rude at all. :)

And with the salad thing....it's a bit more expensive to buy a head of lettuce, tomatoes, ect. than it is to just buy a pre-made salad. Also, as I've said before my mom is being weird about me changing my eating habits. I'd have to ask her to get me all the ingredients for a salad, and I want to avoid the subject as often as possible. :hmm:

Spaz, honey, a girl your age should be ingesting at least 1500 calories a day; and heavy on the calcium and protein. (and it doesn't have to be from meat, it can be eggs or dairy or legumes), but the answer is not to reduce your calorie intake to next to nothing. Your body will think it's starving to death and slow your metabolism down to compensate.

I think it's great that you want to be healthy and fit, but you have to do it smart. Your bones are still growing, your brain is still developing and you have to have the proper nutrients to keep those things going. And never, ever, ever skip breakfast! When your body is going from a resting rate to an active rate, you must have some fuel to kick your metabolism into gear. (even if it's only a glass of juice or a piece of fruit.)

Up your activity level; even if it's something as simple as walking. Or swim. If your community has a public pool, see if there is a time when you can do laps. It's an excellent full body work out, both aerobic and cardio, and it's fun!

I thought I was eating pretty close to that number of calories. Remember, many of the things I put down here don't have the calorie amount next to them, simply because I have no idea.

I've been doing these 2 Mile Walk video things (it's been too hot to be outside too long, and when I'm inside I can atleast be in front of a fan). Also, we don't have a pool near by but my g-ma lives in a neighborhood with a community pool and we go there atleast once a week. :)

Cool! Maybe you can time your visits so you can hit the open swim at the pool!

For the most part, it doesn't sound like you have an eating disorder in the making, and, as someone pointed out earlier in this thread, maybe you could try to get your Mom onboard, if you pose it to her that you want to be more healthy, rather than thinner.

And, really, honey, it is a big fear that parents have; I have a teen-ager and I've seen her stress over her weight, (as if she needs to; she's 5 foot 3 and about 100 pounds), and it can be a scary thing for a parent.

A good way to get protein into salads is to just add cheese into the mix. Cheddar, jack, and Swiss all go well in different types of salads, and if you can add a bit of ham, turkey, or salami (my personal choice) into the mix as well you'll be even better off.

And one of the problems with the pre-packaged salads is that they come with their own dressings. The dressings usually are high in sugar from artificial sweeteners, which is unnecessary. Buy a low-cal dressing and you'll be much better off.

I agree with what others have said and your diet has no nutrients. Xach was right about the ramen noodles. All that is, is carbs and sodium. I’d definitely watch the carb/sugar intake and up your protein intake if you’re trying to lose weight. There are definitely other alternatives for protein if you don’t like meat. Soy or edamame beans are a great alternative. If you like eggs, boil them. If you’re worried about cholesterol don’t eat the yolk. Like Bear Stories said legumes and beans are good. Just check the package and make sure you’re not getting stuff that is mostly carbs and no protein.

One suggestion that I’d like to make is when your mom goes grocery shopping, ask to go with her and pick out the foods you want yourself. Like Zach said prepackaged salads come with dressing that isn’t good for you, plus the portions can be larger then you want. But your mom is just going by what you asked her to do. Get you a salad.

I also stand by what I said earlier. Talk to a Registered Dietician or a Nutritionist. Or both.

Be smart about this, it's a mistake that a lot of people make and they wind up choosing unrealistic diets that they can't maintain and have problems later in life (either with falling off of the diet and gaining lots of weight very quickly, or they starve themselves and have organ damage).
