So I have a shit load to report! :D

My uncle Ray moved back home from Mexico at the end of April--he is now living in a friend's condo with his wife Allyson in Atlanta, and will be moving into a permanent home sometime at the end of this month.

I'm pretty bummed, though--we were supposed to go see him the weekend before last, and never went--it was okay at first, though, because he was supposed to be coming up here for a visit on July 1st. Now he's probably not coming up then, because they're gonna be busy settling into their new home. :( I'm still happy to have him back to only being a couple hours' drive away, though.

As I've said, I've been wanting to lose some weight but have been failing miserably. I am currently at 128 pounds--which, for my height, is a perfectly healthy weight. Charts say I'm not even at risk for becoming over weight. But when I look in the mirror, I look chubby and it bothers the hell out of me. If I eat something unhealthy (a cheese burger, a cookie, ect.) I feel horribly guilty, a little less so if I get in some good exercise though. My goal is around 120 (unless I still feel uncomfortable there).

I'm doing a babysitting course at camp this summer--I can't wait! We get to go to an actual day care and help out, and at some point we get to take care of this little electronic baby that we have to "feed" and stuff for two days. After the two days are up, we get a little computer printout on how well we took care of it. When I get home, I'm allowed to look for a babysitting job--the only rule is that I have to do it in our house (which shouldn't be too big of a problem).

In the begining of July, I'm going to be staying with my Ama (my mom's mommy) for about a week. Her boyfriend whom she lives with is going to be having knee sergery...between visiting him in the hospital and work, she needs someone to help take care of her two doggies. I'm excited--my house has no air conditioning and it gets REALLY hot in here, unlike her house which not only has an air conditioner but a neighborhood pool! Plus I love my Ama to death, she's always been like a second mom to me, and I like spending time with her. :)

Well, that's all for now. Gotta do some DAin'! :D

You weren't kidding about having a lot, were you!? ;)

Hmmm.....let's start here...

How tall are you?

Keep in mind that you're still growing, first of all. What you're trying to lose may just be "baby fat", which I would advise against, especially if you're not even close to being overweight. Your body could be telling you it needs those pounds there for a reason.

Just eat normally (keeping those healthy choices in mind :nice: ). With all of the exercise/sports you do, I'm thinking at least some of that weight is muscle (which is heavier than fat, you know). As you keep up your activity, your muscles should become more toned, which should make you look less "chubby".

Kudos!!! :nice: I think you'll find that to be a most valuable course to have under your belt! (and the parents of the children you're sitting will think so too! :) )

When I was in Girl Scouts, there was a "child care" type badge that was offered. I'm guessing they still offer it - not sure about that, though. In some schools, it was also part of the home economics course we had in 7th and 8th grades.

I think you'll find that sitting at your house should not only not be a problem, but all involved may see it as an advantage! Good luck! :)

Yeah, there's still a child care badge--I earned it a year or two a go when we helped out with some younger kids at a day care center. :D

At camp, I'll also be getting certified in CPR and First Aid, which is something cool to be able to tell someone when offering to babysit their children.

I like to talk a lot. :p That's why having a journal is the BOMB! :nice: :D :D

About 5'3.

It might just be baby fat, you're right. Like I said, I'm not huge--my stomach just has a little pudge that bothers me. Being over-weight runs in my family on both sides, too, so I've always been afraid of gaining too much. :hmm:

I think I'll be okay if I just stay on a regular exercise schedual and try not to eat too much crap. :)

Among other things!!!! :nice:

OK, so you're my size, basically. I'm only half an inch taller than you, so same difference, really.

I think I'll be okay if I just stay on a regular exercise schedule and try not to eat too much crap. :)

I think so too. That's all you really need to do.

I'm very happy now. :)

My mom went grocery shopping today. I made sure she got me my sweets (grapes, yogurt, and a watermelon/cantalope/ melon mix), and I also got a jar of pickles. Pickles contain no calories, no fats, and no carbs--so instead of drinking water to kill hunger pains until my next meal, I can munch on a pickle or two. :D I think if I limit my sweet stuff intake, I'll be aiight. :nice:

As someone who was underweight for a while, let me warn you that weight loss via dieting is a bad idea. I was constantly tired, usually much more ill, and I had various other issues. You're young and female. You probably just have baby fat, and if you're still as active as ever, it will go away naturally on its own. No, just let your body play out for a few more years, but keep your BMI and weight in the acceptable bounds as suggested by the medical community.

And don't give up on drinking water either! There's no such thing as too much.

Besides, those pickles will probably make you awfully thirsty.

I don't think I'll lose THAT much weight--I'm not starving myself or anything.

I'm still trying to drink plenty of water--just not as a substitute for food. :)

Haha...I don't like it though. It makes me feel bad. :p

I had a couple pieces of fruit and yogert for lunch today. And I'm about to go swimming, so I'll swim some laps and that can be my exercise for today. :D

Okay, so today I had....

Breakfast: 2 servings of Cinnamon Toast Crunch w/milk (about 300 calories)
Lunch: Four squares of fruit (unknown amount of calories) and 1 cup of yogurt (130 calories)
Drinks: 16 oz. of Sprite (two 8 oz. glasses, one in the afternoon and one this evening--200 calories all together)
Snack: Four slices of apple w/peanut butter and three small ginger snaps (unknown amount of calories)
Dinner: 1 pack of Ramen Noodles (190 calories)
Desert: 3 York mini pepermint patties (170 calories)

And I was swimming (a mix of laps and just swimming around) from 2:30pm--5:00pm.

I think instead of having one or two sugary drinks AND having a little desert, I should start choosing one or the other. :hmm: Other than that I was a good girl today. :D :D :D :D :D

What you call dinner I consider a snack.

Average caloric intake should be 2,000 calories or thereabouts.
I was on the upper end of being underweight. Specifically, I was a few pounds of being in acceptable parameters. Even then, that's how I felt.
The more weight I loss, the worse I became.

I had my snack and dinner pretty close together...
Average caloric intake should be 2,000 calories or thereabouts.
Unless you're dieting...you shouldn't take in under 1,200 calories. Anything above that is acceptable.

I'd have to get all the way down to 85 pounds to be considered under-weight.

So I'm good with not becoming under-weight. :nice:

Frankly, 85 pounds isn't just underweight, that's anorexic. Trust me on this one - I have a very small frame, and anything less than 100 pounds on me would make me quite ill indeed.

I'm actually trying to put on 10 pounds or so!

Oh, of course--like I said, I only want to get down to about 120. :)
