James Brown may be 73 years old, but he still GOT IT!!!!:D

Over 1 and 1/2 hours of GREAT music, he did almost every song I wanted to hear, including a duet with his wife (by the way GREAT singer herself and is actually very hot too, as are his dancers:) ) on Sam&Dave's "Hold On"...the only ones he did not do were "Please Please Please", "Georgia On My Mind", "Livin' in America" and "I Got the Feeling", but he did most of his other hits.

He can still dance about 80% as good as he did at his best, he did not do the splits, but he was moving around all over the stage and his showmanship is as great as ever. His amount of energy has not changed with age at all!! His voice and singing was usually 90-95% as great as on his best records, and I would say that his versions of "It's a Man's World", "Sex Machine" and especially "I Feel Good" (yes, he even reached the highest notes there and did it GREAT) had the best vocals I ever hear him do. His band was AMAZING, so was his conducting of the band (100% perfect) and he isn't bad on the keyboards either.

One of the best shows I've EVER seen. I would definately suggest going to see him. With age, James Brown did not slow down musically AT ALL, and physically he did not slow down much either:nice: .

I've caught his tour shows twice, once in Austin and another time in Atlanta. The Austin show wasn't that great, he was off on his notes and timing as well, but the Atlanta show was phenomenal. "It's A Man's World' is indeed one the best in his stage songbook, and I liked 'Please Please Please' a lot, too. In the Atlanta show those two sounded much better than the studio recorded versions.

He is indeed 'The Hardest Working Man In Show Business'. I got tired 15 minutes into the show just watching him.

Did he so that part in "It's a Man's World" where he goes into people like John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix?

I've always thought "It's A Man's World" as a misinteperted song [or at least I interperted the song differently than others do],I don't see it as sexism [and yes, there were working women in 1966 too, especially in my family],I see it as saying that without the tenderness/compainionship of another person we are all far from what we could be.

I agree. It's merely a observation of what is, or was back then, not a frigging endorsement of discrimination, but, a lot of people these days are more than a little dense, especially those parroting 'correctness' and interpreting everything from some middle class perspective of leveling everything to some imaginary, genteel 'inoffensiveness'; the crap those sorts put out about this song being a classic example, and banning Mark Twain from school libraries, and refusing to acknowledge racist violence committed by minorities as far more widespread than white on minority violence, are two other prime examples of ersatz, trendy bigotry.

I like "I feel good"
What is a 70 odd year old man doing on a stage?
Shouldnt he be home in a rocking chair playing with grand-children?
Well at least you got your moneys worth something hard to get at any concert these days.

I know exactly what you're talking about...yes, a little bit, he was talking about all kind of stuff in the middle of the song, including people like Elvis, Ray Charles and especially Janis Joplin...but not for a long time. His voice was AMAZING on that one though...sounded as great as EVER, same with "I Feel Good" (yes, he reached the highest notes as well:nice: ).

Ummm, he does't even look 60 and sure as hell doesn't need a rockin' chair because he still rocks on stage harder than anybody even half his age. I admit that while I expected a very good show, I did not expect it to be half as great and I couldn't imagine him being about 90-95% as good as he was at his best.

I saw him at the HFS Nutcracker a few yrs ago. WHY WHY WHY the dumbasses didn't place him as headliner is beyond me. We left after his performance- everything else would have been a let down after him.

Agreed.

And just HOW MANY PEOPLE out there MISINTERPRETED said lyrics? Just like the folk that misconstrued "EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE" by The POLICE....

Every move you make, every smile you fake....NOT "I'll be looking after you (and your well-being and such)"....but...I'LL BE WATCHING YOU!!! :eek3:

Yeah,Sting has always said it freaked him out when people said "That's me and my girl's song" until he realized they really weren't listening to the lyrics in the first place.

Oh yeah ,another one was "Cherish" by The Association ,people play it at weddings when the rest of us can clearly see it's an unrequited love song.

Sorry- know it's off topic but this just reminded me of all the geniuses that had "My heart will go on" as their wedding song. Even without the movie I thought the lyrics were obvious:rolleyes:

Sting wrote it so it could be about the CIA or about an average, everyday stalker, but indeed the song is about spying or stalking of some sort.

It's pretty obvious in the lyrics too.
