last night i made a call for a car wreck. a bmw was wrapped around a telephone pole. when i checked the driver for pulses, his neck crunched when i pushed on it. so did his chest. the steering wheel was so deformed it looked melted. the airbag was hanging out of it. between the door and the center console was only about 10" of space. we waited for the medical examiner before we could cut him out. the me finally showed up and took all her pictures and such. then we were able to cut him out. when he pulled him out, his body was complete mush. i don't think there was a single bone left unbroken in his body. after we got him out, we got his id out of his wallet. he was 18 years old. then we noticed the tassle on his rearview mirror. he was supposed to graduate high school next month. just then, his cell phone started to ring. his mom was looking for him. the day after mothers day, and someone had to go tell her that her son is dead. he was about one mile from home, coming home after work. the cops said he was probably doing about 70 when he hit the pole. makes me wonder how i lived through my younger years. sometimes my job sucks. :nonono:

Did the vehicle have any airbags in it? I'm guessing not by the description you provided, but thought I would ask anyhow.

the steering wheel was so deformed it looked melted. the airbag was hanging out of it.it was a '98 bmw. he was wearing his seat belt (hence the title). no side airbags though. not that they'd have helped. kid was fubared big time. he was going way to fast for anything to have helped.
