House arrest for attack cat
Fairfield neighbors terrorized by Lewis
DANIEL TEPFER dtepfer@ctpost.com

A ferocious feline terrorized a quiet Fairfield neighborhood, to the point that residents are seeking help from the law to stop the so-called "Terrorist of Sunset Circle."

Lewis, a 5-year-old, black-and-white longhaired cat, attacked at least a half-dozen people on the cul-de-sac and even took on the local Avon lady, neighbors say.

"He looks like Felix the Cat and has six toes on each foot each with a long claw," Sunset Circle resident Janet Kettman said. "They are formidable weapons."

Kettman said Lewis attacked her twice.

etc., etc., ... LOL, I love this part:

Solveira was so concerned about Lewis' attacks in the neighborhood of neatly kept homes off High Street that she placed a restraining order on him. It was the first time such an action was taken against a cat in Fairfield and possibly in the state. In effect, Lewis is under house arrest, forbidden to leave his home.

Too funny! How do you explain to a Judge that you want a restraining order on a cat?! They're small....you can kick 'em. You can put 'em in the dryer. How do you actually go in front of a public offical and say, "I'm scared of this cat"?

The same way you sue someone because you hurt yourself breaking into their home.

The key is to be totally feckless and hope your immediately-present bit of the judicial system is as well.

What I want to see is this woman waving a restraining order that's half clawed to shreds as she retreats down the street screaming that the cat isn't playing fair.

I'd just grab that cat and launch it at the nearest tree trunk. This is silly. People shouldn't be afraid of or take any shit from a small animal.

And scratches on the leg are no reason to go to a hospital. Get some neosporin and a bandaid for Christ's sake.

Hmmm....could this be why we haven't heard from Snouter lately!? Maybe someone should do a check of the local hospitals.

that was the toughest meanest cat ive ever seen.. though i dont remember him terrorizing people.. just dogs and possums and other cats... oh had a couple of run-ins with his arch nemesis the speeding car:eek:

Upon further review, I want this cat. I'll adopt the little bastard even if it means that I'm "harboring a fugitive". Those crybaby's in the neighborhood should be locked in a room with that cat so he can have his way with them. If you're too much of a sissy to defend yourself from a 10lb kitty, and then turn around and start suing and trying to get the poor animal put to death, you deserved to get your legs scratched up.

People should stop abusing our legal system and just physically stand up for themselves, and it's not hard when your opponent is only 10 lbs.

In most cases they would've just sentenced the little fluff ball to the death penalty.

Figured I'd give this thread a bump for this new bit of news. Frickin' unbelievable that that this went to court.

Nine Lives, Still Intact
Judge Spares Lewis And His Claws, But He Has To Stay Indoors
June 21, 2006

By LYNNE TUOHY, Courant Staff Writer BRIDGEPORT -- Lewis the Cat not only was spared a death sentence Tuesday, but he gets to keep his claws as well.

But the "Free Lewis" line of shirts, coffee mugs and mouse pads are far from obsolete. Lewis is under a lifetime lockdown order that bars him from leaving the confines of his home, lest he attack another neighbor on Fairfield's otherwise uneventful Sunset Circle.

While the Superior Court judge and prosecutor emphasized that it wasn't Lewis, but his owner, Ruth Cisero, who was facing a criminal charge of reckless endangerment, the case really was all about the cat. Cisero wouldn't argue otherwise.
